No weapons, no way to hurt you.

Would you like me to say “here is a story” or “here is the palm of your hand”? because either way I’m telling the truth, and either way I end up lying. I place the palm of my hand against the story the way I would place the palm of my hand against your cheek before kissing you. Open palms mean welcome; mean I have no weapons, no way to hurt you. I place the palm of my hand against the palm of your hand like a prayer, which is also like a kiss, which is also like a welcome saying I have no weapons, no way to hurt you. We are the story, I say. In this story we are gentle and kind, we have no weapons, no way to be hurt, and we are always asking and always offering, our palms out, open. In this story I place the palm of my hand against your cheek and I kiss you, saying here is the palm of my hand on your cheek, here is a kiss, and here is our story. I am gentle and kind.
