Moving past email

This is coming from the female half...
So, has anyone else noticed that moving past emails on this site is a bit rare? It seems as though a lot of people want to email back and forth endlessly, and nothing comes of it. And I'm not talking about "getting to know you" emails. It's small amounts of random information. Not that that is a bad thing. I'm not complaining. It just seems a bit futile. What ever happened to good old fashioned phone conversation? Or deciding you want to meet...and actually doing it? Are we becoming so disconnected from reality that we no longer need to move past email? Are instant messages and emails taking the place of live conversation and social activity (the kind where we actually venture AWAY from our computers)? I don't know about anyone else, but I would much prefer a live human being...in person, to a computer screen. The way I see it, life is all about risk, and taking chances. More people should be doing that these days. You'll never know what you'll find if you never look. And for those not brave enough to meet in person...you really can tell a lot about a person by speaking with them. I highly recommend it. Plus, the great thing about talking....you don't need spell check, so you won't sound like a dumbass, unless you are one, I suppose.
