Just a Thought....

Walk over to your window, or step out on the balcony, or look out from your porch. What do you see? Describe it, so I'll know you better.

A brown centipede lawn pining for spring, with a few tall white pines scattered about...a couple of drab medusa-like wysterias, naked and forlorn...a 2 lane paved road and nothing but a woods on the other side...so thick with underbrush and so swampy that you can't walk through it... most likely no one will ever spend the money to drain it, cut the timbers, and build...a cypress looming here and there as a testament to the passage of time...

Sitting on my sunporch looking out, I see a large swimming pool, all covered with a green loop lock cover...looks more like a tennis court. And although you could walk on it....your feet would get wet. Makes me wish for summer. The trees beyond the fence are of course bare. But you can see the water from a borough pit,(actually called "bingo lake") which is behind our property. And when the sun is shining, it reflects on the water....and makes me wish it was warm enough to sit somewhere and dangle my feet in the water and daydream.

Quiet, bedroom community. Brick houses mainly.. some with siding. Like Corezon, brown centipede grass to the street. Several old dogwood trees, a maple, and a pine tree. All mature. Gerber Daisies and Day Lillys... both confused by the weather... and trying to grow. (Roses aren't confused!) There is a church within a nine iron from me. (about a hundred and fifty yards.) Across the road, another brick home, like mine... three bedromm and garage. Nothing spectacular, but it's where I rest.

Looking out onto my back yard, I see about half an acre of grass, waiting for warmer weather. There is a bit of woods and a small creek that s been formed by the rain water run off. A swing set that s aged beautifully. When I look at it I can hear the cheerful voices of the kids playing on it. There is a hot tub next to the deck flanked by mostly used torch candles. Sitting on the deck is a tarp covered swing for three.

There are also lots of sticks littering the lawn from some of the latest storms. It just hasnt been a priority to clean them up.

Looking out of any window is acres of fenced forest trees… Mostly evergreen, and some madrona, and hemlock, and a few maple, cedar and alder. Underbrush… blackberry, blackcaps, salmonberry, huckleberry, ferns, grasses. And out of two windows ‒ there are bird feeders with constant activity. So there are different kinds of Warbler, Chickadee, Siskin, Finch, Crossbill, Pileated Woodpecker, Hummingbird, Waxwing, Tanager, Jay, Grosbeak, Robin, Sparrow, Pigeon, Pheasant, Crow, and Nuthatch ( my favorite )
I do have some lawn, some that has partially turned into moss. There is also a long slow sloping ravine that gives a nice sense of space. A natural and serene space………
