What is the deal with the movies this year???

They all seem to be remakes of prior movies or sequels......

Have you seen ANY good movies that you would want to recommend????

frbnkslady - hmmmmm... if Brad Pitt is in that one, I better go see it. I think he is not a very down to earth guy, but I think he does wonderful in his movies....

keithcancook - I don't blame you!!

alice593 - I think that is definately the truth. Creative bloggers, we must create a screen script!!!

EvilMuppet69 - You are the first young person that has seen it and liked it; most, I have enountered don't like it too well. Most though, too, have never read the book or did what they needed to just get by in reading the book and they really don't understand the movie and its concepts. Oh, well... I am glad you gave me your vote of confidence for the movie too!

ProtonicMan - My friend's son said the same thing about Batman; I haven't seen it yet....

74ShovelHD - Oh, I loved Ray!! That was an excellent movie... the others (believe it or not), I have not seen just yet.

paintmeblue - Sin City???? Never heard of it.... Did it make it down to Texas, folks??? If it did, that just might show you how OUT OF IT I am with the movies!!! lol...

I actually enjoyed the new War of the Worlds movie more than the old one, as it followed the book more closely I think. The book's still better though.

The screen writers may be running out of ideas also.

My wife and I saw "Monster in Law", that seemed to be non-stop entertaining and funny. Of course it depends on people's tastes, but we thought it was good.

Da heck with the re-makes. I just rewatch the originals.

I just went and seen the new Batman, liked it, and also Mr&Mrs Smith. THAT was funny. And no, I do NOT like Brad Pitt. I like the cartoon, but trying to talk a man into going to watch them with you.. well..................lol

Sin City - no contest, it's the top rated 2005 movie on IMDB, and deservedly so. It just misses out on the Top 100 of all time, at 103, "Batman Begins" is at 114, so it might be watchable too.

I have some friends who do a public-access video review show on the local cable channel. I watched their taping tonight, and they said "Hide & Seek" was pretty poor. According to the "Video Hit Men" Dakota Fanning stole the movie, but the rest was shameless ripoffs of five or six other horror flicks. The didn't recommend it.

I did see "Batman Begins" in the theater a couple weeks ago. I thought it was the best of the Batman movies by far.

My $0.02, FWIW.

B0SSIERBOY - Hide & Seek??? hmmm ... Didn't hear of that one... but, I feel that I have been hiding in a cave somewhere b/c I just haven't heard of many really hit movies this year.....

Lipator - Me too... I rarely go to movies anymore...and I have heard mix reviews on many. War of the Worlds had rave reviews from one person and not so good reviews from 3 others; however, the 3 others were in the 20-30 year old range...and they just didn't get it. Who knows??? Maybe I'll just wait for it to appear on dvd.....

I used to be such a movie buff but now I hardly ever go. I think the last movie I actually went to was De Lovely and that was on my last date last year. A whole dam year, can't believe it.

I really do like interesting plots and storylines and as special effects have become so everywhere, they are less of a draw than they used to be. The action, genre used to be what would pull me in but I think that too has been way overdone. It seems now days that movies are just being written for teenagers as they are more likely to see it 10 times.

I saw Sideways, but not at the movies and really enjoyed it. I was kind of disappointed that Thomas Haden Church didn't get an oscar, as I really do enjoy his brand of comedy. A big fan of Ned & Stacey. I think probably War of the Worlds would be interesting but havn't allocated the time to check it out, maybe tomorrow, who knows.

Hide and Seek with Dakota Fanning and Robert Denerio is pretty twisted. I think that the suprise near the end should have been the end, but then they didn't hire me to edit.
