Singing Kareoke?? pt 2

As I was referring to in Part 1, back in the day, I would go to kareoke bars and sing Patsy Cline's "Crraaaazy" and was inquiring about people's pleasure for kareoke bars still or just a fad.

In part 1, keithcancook replied with the comment (to which my response failed several times): "I do not have the talent to sing FOR an audience. I sing all the time around the house. It is awful to hear but I don't let that stop me. I stay on key about 60% of the time (which is truly GAWDAWFU . I don't give a rip in my own house so I let it rip. My children once launched a crusade in an attempt to silence me.

It failed."

This reminded me of the times that I sing along in my super suv - "the red baron". I will simply sing in the car to my CDs and/or the radio on the way to/from work, shopping, errand running, volunteering, etc. I have no one to be listening to me as I am generally driving myself around town and my daughter has a vehicle of her own heading towards college as soon as she graduates from high school. Because it is general habit for me to be belting out these tunes alone in the car, it is often hard to stiffle myself to sing along with the tunes, and eventually a let loose to everyones astonishment, amazement or whatnot. I don't care. I enjoy singing and will sing whereever I please whether it be in my own car or in the shower!! hee hee..

Do you have a favorite spot to sing?? Where might it be??? Please do tell!!

Just curious.....

COMMENTS/RESPONSES -

unique - I can only imagine what the night guards or cleaning people must think when they hear singing from the bathroom!! lol....

keithcancook - You are so very welcome -- anytime!! Oh, if we could only capture the look of you playing your air sax/guitar/drums at your computer!! That, in itself, might make a good blog post..

Oh, my, hillcountryman!! Wow!! Forgotten are the days of the dorm stairwells... they were so much better than any other stairwells -- especially at the University of Texas!! lol...

mrimposible - Good for you!! It reminds me though of my daughter getting up on the stage at Pearls Oyester Bar and her singing her repretoire of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star; Row, Row, Your Boat; etc. (she was only two!!)... Now she is hamming it up!!

I will do you one better. Instead of masturbating in the cam like everyone else I will cam with me at my desk playing my other instruments.

It will be up to the viewers to determine just what music I am playing to. Blues? Big Band? Jazz? Rock n Roll? Opera? Or perhaps I am listening to TALK RADIO and trying to put y'all off track?

Correct guesses will win the viewer a SPECIAL prize. (perhaps a more intimate type camming experience?

Hmmm, I LIKE it!

Is this just another trick by keithcancook
to get his text on television?

A couple years ago, a friend asked me to join her at a Karaoke bar. My thoughts quickly turned to the image of a bunch of foreigners who could not speak english trying to belt out Rock and Roll. Wow, was I surprised. There were some pretty good singers that night. Then, my friend challenged me to get up there and do a song- and so I did. It was just "ok" but I realized if I work on it, I could nail some songs.

Two years (and over a 100 different songs) later, I can say I've nearly done it all- from the Beatles to Garth, from INXS to James Taylor, and yeah, I do a mean version of Billy Idol's "White Wedding." I'm certainly not the cream of the crop or American Idol material, but I can sure fill up a dance floor with my songs (at least no one heads to the bathroom or for a smoke break when I get up there. It's a great feeling to be the center of attention and hey, I have met some great friends who share the same passion. Ok... time to practice ... "Doe, Rae, Me, Fa, So, La, Tee, D'oh!!!"

My friends and I used to play music and sing harmoinies in the stairwell of our dormitory . Something about that reverb , lol ! I think it is great that you love to sing , no matter how it sounds ! Singing is s'posed to bring pleasure , and if it gives YOU that pleasure , then it is successful !!
I had a friend in Dallas that had a radio show on a public station that was called " I Feel Like Singin' "

I am truly HONORED that you have based a post on a comment of mine. For that I send a "thankee ma'am" directly from my heart to you.

Since I have begun blogging in earnest I spend a lot of time at my desk. I often have tunes to blog by playing and I have been singing along with artists ranging from the 1940's on up to the present.

It interrupts my writing when the emotion just takes hold of me and I put down my keyboard and raise my air Sax/Guitar/Drums/fill in any instrument and GET DOWN. Singing the whole time until I calm down enough to return to my writing.

Favorite would be in the car, on the freeway, by myself. This is where I go all out, and sing at the top of my lungs.

And oddly enough, the restroom here at work in the middle of the night. Fantastic accoustics. Think, "On my own" from Les Miserables in the middle of the night with a little bit of echo. Heh.
