OMG -- Can I have two please????

In my earlier posting today, "Sounds like a Manicure & Pedicure Day is in Order!!!", I expanded upon the earlier days events.... and it got worse!!! lol.....

I went to pick up the phone on my way to a temp job in San Antonio tonight when it took for-ever to leave Austin in itself due to a car colliding with a truck and the truck flipping over a median wall... fire engines were squeezing through the massive cars....traffic was soooo slow that my makeup bag I grabbed before I left, I pulled it out and proceeded to put in on while we were at a standstill.

Finally, I was out of the South Austin area... and my time frame I had allowed for error dwindled to a narrow time frame I had to get there. I stepped up the speed of the car to make good timing within the boundaries of the law..... and all of the sudden....

clonk...clonk, clonk, clonk... clickity, clonk, clonk, clonck.... it was louder and faster sounding as a continued moved forward a bit. I looked around me the drivers were steering clear of me...

I pulled to the median shoulder, but there wasn't much of a shoulder to get out and see much of anything without taking out a door in the process...

Traffic was still way back there.... I zipped across the highway to get out on the grassy shoulder.... and looked....

the whole tread was gone...and radials were showing on my back rear tire!! The tire rim was okay, although the fender insides were bent upwards. I bent them down as best I could.....and,

Deciding that I could probably at least pull into a gas station (b/c I was also nearing empty), I put my hazard lights and moved ahead to a gas station... the only one I had a choice to go to... and pulled in.

The cell phone I picked up -- oh, yeah! It needed to be charged up still and I couldn't use it. I had to use the payphone and OMG what a story in itself that was!! Bell company said that they couldn't do collect calls to any of the phone numbers I was trying... and couldn't bill to my own phone number... and they only took Discover and American Express(!!) (who were they kidding????)... Auggghhhh... Finally, I managed to use my Visa (yea!!!) and got hold of the powers that be to let them know that I was stranded off of the highway in BFE with folks that barely spoke a lick of English..... It is amazing how you can travel in the US and feel that you are in some foreign country all at the same time!! lol....

Finally got through road assistance, but they couldn't verify the address because the store person wouldn't pick up the phone. Why did he have a phone, if he wasn't going to answer it!!! lol...

Oh, well.... road assistance came... and, Thank God!!..... I would have been fiddling with this spare tire under my car thang for hours just to get it down.....

By the time it was said and done, it was no use to go to San Antonio b/c there would only be one more hour to work there.... and I was on a spare tire just outside of Austin. So, I drove back....

wishing the massage chair I sat in earlier would be waiting for me at home tonight.... but, it wasn't.

However, my daughter arrived home at the same time after spending 3hrs at the college getting registered for her classes and dealing with financial aid, as well as getting her driver's license renewed and registered to vote. Whew.... I am not sure who had a rougher day by the time we shared our stories for the day... lol....

And, yet.... tomorrow will come... and it will be another brand new day -- right????

Hoping that you all have had a better day today!!! I know that it can't be any worse!!!! lol...

yagottalikit - lol..... Don't exit near 215, and you will be okay!! Hope you had a safe trip!!! For me... eventhough I have driven that stretch of highway at least a couple hundred thousand times, I certainly felt like I had hit a sector of the Twilight Zone!!! lol....

Efilnikufecin69 - I did read your blog. It is sad that you haven't had a chance to be with your daughter. I do hope and pray that you get to see her soon.....

In the meantime, moving forward with our lives......

I pass along your way some kisses and hugs across the ocean blue to bring you peace and better days ahead....

Barbiebunny69 - Too funny!!! I suppose that things could have been MUCH worse.... LOL.....

alice593 - At the time of you writing this comment, I was up all night because a scorpion had crawled on my arm while I was chatting with an AdultFriendFinder member. I finally got some sleep and just now woke up though. That scorpion must have gone back whereever it came from because by the time I brushed him off of my arm and ran for my trusty tennis shoe, it was gone... and I looked for-ever for that darn scorpion!!!

BTW... no problem.. I have had the same problem with AdultFriendFinder before myself.

OHHHHH txrose, what a day for you. Glad I wasn't you today. I hate being stuck in traffic. Sound like the traffic coming into N.Y.C. after a holiday. Well I could have practiced putting makeup on. LOL I had a great day, and thanks for hoping we all had a better day than you. Well you will sleep good tonight. Oh dear, you will probably be getting up about now. I worked overtime, and it is about time for my wife to get up also. Oh well, I'll kiss her good morning, while she kisses me good night. LOL Today will be a better day for you, I am sure. Smile, be happy.

OHHHHH txrose, glad I wasn't you today. But would have been nice practicing putting make up on with all the time you had to do it. LOL I know tomorrow will be a heck of a lot better for you. I had a great day, so thanks for wishing us all had a good day to have. I bet you will sleep well tonight, but at the time I am writing this; you will probably be getting ready to get up. LOL I am working overtime all this week, so it is now about time for my wife to get up, and for me to hit the sack. Have a great day.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm really enjoying "blogging." It still sounds like a strange word when I say it in my head though.

And I have to agree that I'm not sure who had the worst day, you or your daughter. It's a close race.

Well the pace was actually set in motion by my daughter... and, ironically, we both ending up driving up at the same time. And, you are soooooo right.... I didn't think about that... Thank Goodness for small blessings, huh????

BTW... Nice blogs you have..... Keep up the good work!!

And that interstate in Austin, is ughhh. On-ramps and off-ramps going up and down, under and over each other. Some of the straight lanes going up and under them at the same time. At any given time you have as many people that don't know how it works as people that do. No thanks.

I have days like that sometimes, when Murphy's law in in FULL EFFECT. I can think of a couple times in recent months where I looked back on the day and thought "If I'd known it was going to be like this, I'd have stayed in bed,"

Hate to hear you had such a time, but I'm also really glad you made it through ok. If your timing had been a little different, it could have been you the emergency vehicles were coming to get. Thank goodness things happened as they did and you just had a bad day, instead of a REALLY BAD day.
