Jokes taken too far???

Often times I love a joke as best as the next person...but, sometimes, a joke can indeed be taken too far such as the joke [blog Harshawj]'s coworkers played on his girlfriend yesterday.

Same day, a male friend of mine called me (caller id was correct) but the voice wasn't. He was playing the part of "Shawna the Shiner" -- to the tilt. Had me so confused as to who I was really talking to because he was playing the part so well....complete with talking about polishing his nails and his friend Pierre. I never have laughed or cried so hard in my life -- my cheeks were hurting from laughing so hard.

He had called me on my milk run to use with my Nestle's French Vanilla Java mix. As I got out of the car though I was shaking. It was kind of scarry how good he played the part and I was beginning to think he might have multiple personalities.... perhaps, he had taken it a little too far... perhaps, it would have been better if he prepared me by saying look at what I can do.... who knows????

Have you ever had a joke carried out too far on you????

SensuallyKatey - I do so agree... and it is, indeed, important for us all to maintain our boundaries.

ExploreMore4Me - I also agree about the balancing act; too bad a lot of people have no clue about how to balance things out.

alice593 - Oh, that is probably the worse kind...the kind that tugs on our emotions. I am sorry that ever happend to you; that sort of a joke should never, ever happen.

Yes, txrose, while growing up I had quite a few. One really cut deep inside me, and I can never forget it. I was a loner most of the time, and when a gal seemed to like me a lot I really was elated. But in the end it was a big joke on me. She set me up good, and I ended up in a deep depression for quite some time. Was all set to go to the prom with her, and found out that night that she had already planned on going with someone else. Yes they can get out of hand.

Yes, I had a friend take a joke way too far once...several of us were on the receiving end. This joke got way out of hand causing personal injury to one of us in the group, serious injury. There are times when the jokes do go way too far! Like everything else in life...BALANCE, BALANCE!

Nice Post!

Hugs!

When I was in college, I passed out during a party in my friends room (in the female dorm.) when I woke up the next morning, they had shaved/waxed my ENTIRE body and dressed me in full drag. I don't have any idea where they found a cocktail dress or heels to fit me, or how they got me into the dress but they did. make-up, hair, toenail polish.... the whole nine yards. The reason I think it qualifies as "going too far" is that they used super glue to put on the "press-on" nails, and they called me "crossdressing Ken" for the rest of the semester.
