Have courtesy for your fellow bloggers!! :D

This is a response I gave Mysticwriter88 on his [blog Mysticwriter88]'s blog about a point of contention he has about some fellow bloggers. See if you don't agree....

Hey, Mysticwriter88.... I know that you weren't referencing me as the guilty party...but, may I suggest to your readership that, if you do want to continue the discussion in your blog, do the following:

1. Respond here with your opinion...for or con with sound, logical reasoning behind it;

2. Go to your blog, but start it off by providing a link to [blog Mysticwriter88]'s blog (or whoever it is that you are stemming your discussion from) and summarize the essence of Mysticwriter88's posting;

3. Copy and paste your response that you provided in [blog Mysticwriter88]'s blog threads (and italize your response your are copying from [blog Mysticwriter88]'s blog threads);

4. Provide some more insight in your blog posting perhaps;

5. Open your post in your blog for discussion with some additional questions you might have posed for your readers.

While it is a copyright infringement to copy and paste [blog Mysticwriter88]'s blog post into your own, especially without giving him credit where credit is due; however, by providing the link to his blog, your are redireting the readers to read on their own word for word what Mysticwriter88 has said in his post.

Mysticwriter88 has been irritated on more than one occasion about the infringement process....but, he is especially upset about not receiving credit. By providing that link, you are acknowledging that he is the original writer of the article. It is difficult to provide URL links on this AdultFriendFinder blog site as we would do most any other blog site b/c of the close control they have on the html/css tagging.... however, we can (at the very least) not copy an post into our own and provide a link. It is only the most courteous thing a person could do and acknowledging him as a writer in his own right -- just as you would like to have respected of you -- right?????

You can copy your own response...after all, that is your writing!

Laters....

Have a great 4th!!!

I think that this is only a courteous policy to be followed by any fellow bloggers, don't you agree???

smileguyqc - well, the debate may not be over insofar as whether or not you are giving up ownership of what you write on a blog, since it is on a public domain.... common courtesies should be maintained, though, in order to maintain some peace and level of decorum in this Blogland community.

Thanks for the info everyone, I have wondered if I'm giving up ownership of material by writing it in a blog and I do agree that if you are going to quote a blog you should provide a reference to the entire post.

taodoug65 - Thanks... eventhough we are on open domain, I think it is truly a matter of respect and courtesy. State it, others will follow??? Hope so. It isn't all that difficult to do.....

sexyeyes375 - My degree (when I finally do grow up) is in mediation... lol... go figure!!! I hope it is a compromise that we all can live with.... (ps We all love it when Mystic is content!!!)

wahh hoo. btw txrose4uNTX that was good. I am glad to see more bloggers stating outright. That they should respond to blogs that give them ideas there first. And make a note in their blog stating where the idea came from. Or at least giving proper credit to the original blogger or author
I hope to see more of the bloggers state this.

Sincerely,
taodoug65

Not really tx...

By policy, AdultFriendFinder should ban a member for copying anothers blog.

AdultFriendFinder does not own what we write, we as the members own what we write.

By law, anything we post here is in fact ours. That is why AdultFriendFinder does not allow quoting and it clearly states it in the terms of use.

They only allow quoting if it is within the "fair use" standards.

BTW... Mystic.. you do have to realize that you are posting on a public domain; therefore, the fight against copyright infrigements it a little tougher to fight; however, being courteous and respectful between the bloggers in the blogger community is definately an appropriate expectation.

If they wish to emphasize a special part of your blog it is only appropriate that they make reference to your [blog Mysticwriter88] blog and put something in quotes that they are actually quoting from your blog; at least, they will have both (1) given you credit where credit is due AND (2) offer the reader a means to link up and see what the full context is.

Happy blogging!!

Yes I would agree.

Thank you txrose...

A lot of members here keep quoting me on stuff and they are quoting me totally wrong!

This has heppened numerous times in just a matter of a few days.

Instead of actually quoting what I say, they only quote the specific parts that they want to. This provides false statements and impressions that the blogger is using to lie to their own readers.

Sometimes as people we also miss-write things. I miss-wrote something once and you asked me to clarify and I thanked you for that. All the other people just jump to their own stupid conclusions and do not show the common respect of allowing the person to clarify what they were talking about!
