Favorite "bathroom reading material"???

I was in a store tending to my merchandising bit when all of the sudden I saw two women being particular about whether to get the National Enquirer or not....

When I looked up from what I was doing, these women notice that I was looking at them and quickly explained that they couldn’t decide if her hubby had read that issue or not. The other woman stated that she is going to have to learn to ask her husband if she ever needed the latest scoop on the celebrities and those in the know!!

I remember my first husband always reading in the bathroom; worst than a woman spending so much time in the bathroom!!! My late husband didn’t quite spend so much time in the bathroom, but his enjoyment wasn’t reading so much as it was listening to NPR out on the patio - often with his earphones on so that he didn’t disturb the numbers.

Just curious -

1. If you are a man, are you guilty of reading in the bathroom at great lengths? and, if so, what is your preferred reading material????

2. If you are a woman, are you guilty of reading in the bathroom as well? and, if so, what is your preferred reading material????

For me, I was always anxious to leave some time to primp a little...and I never really enjoyed spending too long in the bathroom - any longer than necessary.

Have any funny stories????

Just curious....

AlbertPrince i'm glad i'm not alone now. That's my escape these days.

I'm living w/my older bro at the moment and he just doesn't get it that staying up (at least 2-3 times a week) till 3-4 in the morning "FLICKING" through the channels, at deafening levels, isn't conducive to My sleep paterns (my bedroom is the couch right next to the T.V./as mom moved in during the spring and shows no inclination of going back to Texas, so she has the other room)...he is also constantly waking me up to tell me he's "going to bed now" or to ask me if i "want the remote"...after just a little sleep, if i get woke up i'm gonna be awake for hours. I've actually yelled at him a time or two to just put it on something and watch it...he just chuckles and keeps on going.

The tub is my escape from the distraction of his evening/early morning "FLICKING". With my tinnitus the exhaust fan in the b-room helps negate (white noise) the ringing, so the "quiet" in there is a pleasure; i can read or just nap all i want for hours (about every hour hour and a half put in more hot water) and can pull the currtain if someone needs to come in (we're all family, so as grose as it is to "listen" to someone use the toilette at least i don't have to watch it/it helps to do alot of splashing around then).

Besides, reading in the tub beats the "peel your butt off the seat" thing when you stay too long "reading on the john"; just put the ol' feet up once in a while to avoid too much prunning of the feet. Anything will do for reading material as i just love reading; Magazines, books, comics, the paper - carefull how ya hold 'em, especially if yer gettin' drowsy.

I read in the bath, for hours, anything at all. I have been known to spend all of Saturday in the bath

five_speed - I think you are not alone in using it as an escapism. I have been known to use it on occasion as a place to regroup if necessary. It is great to know that one has at least one place to go to to be by themselves - that is, unless you have small children....

These days I just do my business and get on with life, but when i was in the army, the shitter was the only place a feller could get some peace and quiet, the only sacred place where no one could mess with me, so i'd draw out the process as long as possible, so I'd read what ever was on hand, whether it was popular science, Time, NewsWeek, Hustler, Playboy, Penthouse, Barely Legal...

I get several computer and IT magazines, and read them in the bathroom, sometime longer than necessary to finish reading an article.

Take care.
