College Degrees

What college degree(s) do you have? Do you work in your field of education???? If you were to do it all over again, would you get the same degree -- or, something totally different?

If you don't have your degree, what do you do now, and do you have any regrets of not having a degree? AND, if you were to do it all over again, what degree would you pursue, if given the opportunity????

Just curious...

I have a degree in mechanical engineering. I enjoyed the classes, but I would be more social if I were to do the school again. I have always worked in that field, and I enjoy a lot of it. The bureacracy, paperwork, and large-company politics SUCK though.

I have been thinking about going back for a masters degree, but I can't decide between an advanced engineering degree or an MBA. One would be fun, the other could potentially bring more money.

jayR63 - Somehow, you don't strike me as an idiot!! Heck, I have worked backwards... getting a paralegal Certificate first.... then my Associates justice... and now my bachelors... lol... oh, well. At least, it is being accomplished -- right???

innocent19735 - Good for you to get a career going quickly. Most of the people aren't so fortunate.

74ShovelHD - What sort of engineering? When I was going to UT, I hung around lots of engineers...and assisted them with their binary homework problems. I took some ME drafting courses.... probably should have stayed with them!!! hee hee...

artistforexploit - Somehow that is soooo you. If you are still not working in your field of expertise, I would certainly try to volunteer in some aspect to receive some of that gratification back in return.

Fallic40 - Somehow... culinary school would be a natural flow for you... and being a Naked Chef! hmmmm.....

rccs - I am going back to school right now and love it!!

straightten2002 - Too funny. I have been deliberating about a law degree; but, I need to through the next 2 years first!! An OB/GYN???? hmmm...

I hold a professional position in higher education, but I don't teach. I have two masters degrees; one of them is directly related to the field I'm in, while the other one could be used by anyone in any field. I'm reluctant to say more because I don't think it would go over well in the small town where I live that I belong to a site like this. But TxRose always asks so nicely, I can't resist. And if you really want to know, just write me directly and ask.

Given my talents, abilities, and opportunities, if I had it to do all over again, I'd probably go into the same field. But if I'd had more aptitude for science, I would have loved being a veterinarian.

I did 3 years at prelaw at LSU with History/Psych with the aspirations to become an attorney. At the time, I had a business in Shreveport doing skiptracing, reposessions, civil investigations ad insurance adjustment and investigations. Some of my attorney clients wanted me to join their firm and send me thru law school. Funny thing happened on the way to graduation. The more I worked for attorneys, the less I wanted to be one. I dropped out and continued on with self-employment. Sometimes I regret it, only because it is one thing that I started and didn't finish. On the other hand, I have done SOOOO much since then that I probably never would've done, having been stuck in a Louisiana courtroom arguing a slip 'n fall claim.

College was a waist of time and money to me, I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know. I went for Journalism Broadcasting but I was already a LOngshoreman in highschool so I really didn't need a degree. I learned how to survive off of sugar water and $1.00 noodles. LOL!!

I'm an idiot.
I have three associates degrees.

What I regret is going to florida for one of them instead of RIT for a BS
If I hadn't been so stoned in HS, I might have taken a different course entirely and been a biologist.

If there were a school nearby, I would still pursue physical therapy.
I'm doing OK though.

It's NEVER too late for an education and I think the older students appreciate it so much more

To keep from disclosing my identity by the field I am in, I will just say I am a beauty consultant for one and carry a license for it. I am also pondering law school, have dreams of wearing that black robe and handing down judgments. So basically I have two degrees. If I could go back and start again I would be an Obstetrican/gynecologist(delivering babies)

I am the real deal! "Come Get Me!!!"

I have a bachelor of science degree in industrial management, a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and a master's degree in applied mathematics.

If I could do it all again would I? No. Too much work and too little return. Of course in five years that might all change.

If I could do it all again - perhaps a history degree or culinary school.

Well, I have my college degree in art, plus various certificates in graphic arts programs & I have worked in the graphic arts field exclusively my entire career. My only regret is that I failed to stay in fine arts, but now I have the chance to do it. Would I do it again? Somehow I can't see myself doing anything else, except having sex, but that's a given. lol
