And, I thought I was going to be shy on books for reading this summer!!!

My next school term begins on July 11th and I received my (5) five books for the next (2) two courses I am taking......

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley (thankfully, I have read this before) (268pgs)

The Dispossessed: An Astonishing Tale of One Man's Search for Utopia by Ursula K. LeGuin (387pgs)

Democracy and Technology by Richard E Sclove (284pgs)

The Whale and the Reactor: A Search for Limits in an Age of High Technology by Langdon Winner (192pgs)

Legal Ethics by Kent D. Kauffman (380pgs)

NOTE: If anyone has Cliff Notes and/or personal notes and/or summaries of any sort, I will probably gladly accept them!!!

All kidding aside, if you have read any of these books, just let me know a little about what you thought about them!!

A little light reading there, no? I haven't read Huxley, but he and LeGuin are both highly regarded in the SF circles.

I love these little "coincidences..." I was thinking about The Whale and the Reactor yesterday (actually about trying to sell it on e-Bay). It was a required book for a college course on the Philosophy of Science. I didn't read it. LOL Perhaps I should dig it out now, and we could have a little study session.

Sound of wheels turning, and smoke comes out of ears. Followed by a slow grin
Hmmm. Maybe we could form an TXRose book club! Move over, Oprah!

Although I have read it, it has been years and years ago.... It was a book that I had finished from cover to end... As a result, it is going to be much easier to brief myself on this book. The others on the list, I have no clue.... ....

I'll let you know how much I like the book when I have a chance to do a glance over... I can't remember if it was on my book reading list for a DBU course or, if it was actually much earlier than that...maybe even during my UT days... lol... who knows!!!

So a mask is unvealed about jayR63. Hmmm... Are you still a student? What are you studying???? Do you still work at the library?? I would think that might be interesting to do... but, I too would be browsing much more than shelving, I think!!! Too funny.

I was a student worker in the library last semester. It would take me forever to shelve books because I was always browsing. One that caught my eye was Brave New World and it is on my list of books to read.
I have a vague idea of the theme.
