Why Have Taboos?

Why do we have taboos?

It would be an obvious answer if they were all blatantly dangerous or idiotic in some way. A few are - like incest - these tend to endure. But mostly, in another time, they're subjects considered perfectly harmless - even silly.

In the 19th century, to discuss "niggers" was normal. But to suggest they might have a relationship with your daughter was completely taboo. Nowadays, the relationship is acceptable to society, but the word "nigger" sets our teeth on edge.

What are today's taboos? And how will they become twisted in the future?

Wouldnt it be lovely if we all had the answers - then again would make the world a boring place one would imagine.

Hi! Thanks for responding...

Hmmm... not sure if it would be boring if we had answers though. I'm quite scientific that way. Some people say that understanding how things work ruins their beauty - makes them seem dull and mechanical. They tend to think the same about people.

But I think when you understand things better and have more answers, everything becomes even more beautiful because there's always some ingenious logic which was hidden to you which then becomes clear.

I'd love to know why we have taboos, because I suspect the answer is somewhat profound and would make me see things more clearly. That's beautiful to me

Taboos...those that kiss'n tell, bisexual men, not women, they're a different breed! On this site? Ostracism is often the result of speaking one's mind when among small minds...the ones that DON'T read, or comprehend, the ones that only look for justification of their physical actions no matter how those actions hurt one...there are still many taboos among the restless natives who aren't looking for more than just physical plains.
