The train was late.

She apologised. She apologises every morning. She apologises for "we". "We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the late running of this service."

Who is "we"? "She" is a computer. How can a "she" who is a computer apologise?

I decide to get a computer to apologise for me...

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the fucking up of the last job. However, we're not quite sorry enough to speak to you personally. Thankyou for your patience."

I try the message on my boss. The next morning I do it again. The next morning I am fired. Now I no longer have need of a train so the message has worked.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Nope - wrong. Some people apology for things others do not. I do not apologize for anything that is beyond my control or not my doing.

Until later

Hi Guya! Thanks for dropping by

Although I no longer have a job, I miss the routine and so I went into town again this morning. No need for leaves!! Oh no! There was a fire on a train at West Norwood.

Last week it was a fatality at West Sutton. This announcement was greeted by a chorus of heartless tutting and sighing. Since privatisation there has definitely been an increase in the competition to invent better and more creative reasons for screwing up a journey. I've not actually heard global warming mentioned on a platform announcement, but it can surely only be a matter of time.
