Civilization, Smoking, and Boycotts

I'm not a big gamer. I do have a playstation2 and after getting it found the games for it require way to much time to become skillful at so it rarely gets played.
I have played this computer game "Civilization" on and off for several years and found out that they had a new release so I went and paid my $49.95 plus tax and picked it up the other day.

The reason....smoking.

I'm about to take another stab at giving up smoking and I'm getting really good at preparing myself both mentally and physically. My last try I really quite but the stress of my last breakup caused me to pick the bad habit up again.

Now the patches work really well (if you use enough of them) but you still need to be doing something ALL of the time. Idle hands and mind will make you very weak even with the patch and I know from experience that I will need a couple of weeks to get over the nicotine hill.

Thats where the new game comes in. I plan to play for hours on end for the first couple of weeks to keep busy and to have my mind on something besides cigarettes.

So I bring the game home, install it in my laptop....and ....nothing.

It won't run!

Seems my graphics card in my computer is just not fast enough to handle the better graphics in the new game.

You can't put new graphic card in a (my)laptop.

Does this shit happen to other people?

What did I do to piss off the self improvement Gods?

So it looks like a new computer is in my future.
I figure it's a small price to pay for being able to give up smoking and I know that it will work so I going to step up to the monitor so to speak. I thinking a low end desktop to save money and have a backup for my laptop. My laptop should still have a couple of years left in it. The thing that pisses me off the most is that I was wanting to wait until Vista was released before buying a new computer and with the delay their saying the end of this year.

Oh well we must keep the focus on the main goal here and do whats needed to accomplish it.

The real reason for the timing of this post is because America is being boycotted today. It seems that all of the illigal immigrants in our country (25 million of them) are not going to buy anything or do any work today to teach us a lesson.
Seems like a good time for a major purchase to me.
