Where's your throttle?

I watched a movie over the weekend. To tell you the truth, I don't even remember the name of it right now. But I do remember one part of it very well.

Billy Bob Thornton was a high school football coach. He was visiting a players house who was being raised by a single mother who apparently didn't have a full deck upstairs, if you know what I mean. The coach told him (in a nutshell, I don't remember exactly how it came out)

"I'm sure you've figured out by now that life isn't always fair. Nobody's going to change your future except yourself. If you don't like where you're headed, than do something about it."

I have left comments to others here in the blogs, when peeps are down, or during a trying time, whatever. I've told them to throttle it. Or maybe give it more throttle.

But you see, to me, a throttle isn't a part of a car... well it is, but... it's a way of life. An attitude. Determination, undying will. It's all that, but more. Why more?

Because it's in each and everyone of us. I have it, you have it, everyone who reads your blog has it. It's there. Sometimes it's harder to find than others. But it's there.

The reason I'm telling you all this is because I want everyone to use there throttle in '06. You've got it, use it. The hell with resolutions for the new year. Just make a conscience effort to remember that you have what it takes to make this year better than last. And then go out and do it. For you.

Very cool thoughts! Resolutions more often than not depress rather than elevate.

Ah, Its you again, Your Angel Feathers and your Blood Stains...

Although Trav, I have to say .. the '48 minutes to play, a lifetime to remember' was also in the movie "Varsity Blues" ... although in that movie it was '48 minutes to play, 48 years to remember'.
