A wonderful weekend

We just got back home a couple hours ago from a weekend trip to Olympia, Wa. Olympia is on the south end of the Puget Sound and is the capital of the state.

I took a couple of photos with my phone to share with you all. These were taken in Boston Harbor, which is a little community just outside of Olympia on the water. It's a great little place. Every time I've been there, a group of friends is out on the deck at the marina, sharing stories and having a bite to eat. There's always a dog (never the same one) to greet you with a wagging tail as you step out of your car. Friday, we stopped by to take a walk on the docks and spotted a harbor seal enjoying the late afternoon sun, hoping for someone to violate the signs and toss him something from their days catch.

I love the sounds of the harbor. The distinct clanging of the buoys' bells, the slapping of the waves against the bows of the boats, the eerie creaking of the docks against the mooring piers, the seagulls, and the smells... I love the smell of the salt water.

If you have ever been here, you know what I'm talking about. If not, you really should make a point of seeing this place just once in your life. Too cool.

Enjoy the pix. Blog on.
