Thinking to Much

Sometimes I get these flashes -
a memory floating through my mind,
when I think too much,
when I am trying to sleep
or have too much timeto think.
I get a picture here,
a sentence there,
a feeling that won't go away,
my heart travels to the attic in my mind
picking up things along the way.
I've often said I don't believe in regret....
but then there are times like these,
on one of my journeys into the past
when I wish I could forget what I see.

“Sometimes I get these flashes -
a memory floating through my mind”

Your comments reminded me of a memory from the past that inspired me.
When I was 15, I was traveling on the Carnival with my family’s Mechanized Cartoon Show.

The King of the Gypsies and his tribe were also traveling with this carnival. (You know- Fortune Tellers, games of skill and chance)

I fell madly in love with his daughter, Alma who was 14. These Gypsies were from Spain, and were some of the most striking and beautiful people I have ever seen to this day. (OK - so maybe you’re more impressionable at that age)

We had a great summer together.
(Oh, by the way, her father told me she was a true Princess, and if I behaved in correctly he would skin me alive, treat her like a Princess and you’re welcome in our camp any time. I believed him and was a perfect gentleman all summer.)

After she left for school which started two weeks before mine, I was setting on the merry-go-round apparently looking all dejected, when the Gypsy’s Wizard stopped to enlighten me. (His title was Wizard during the summer, he was actually a Harvard Lawyer the rest of the Time).

After contemplating me a few minutes, he said
“You Know, when you only set and stare at the door that just closed,
you will miss the one that just opened.
When the next door opens, go thru it and embrace life for all it has to offer,
then you will never loose the joy from the previous one.”

So I guess that set the precedence for my life. (See how susceptible we are at that age?)
I have now been thru many doors, cherished each one, and gladly embrace the next.

With that said, I wish you many new and exciting doors.

sometimes those flashes are the answer to a problem.

(and sometimes Mer splashes her tail just the right amount, just when it is needed.)
