ALERT... Seems You Can Definitely Get Crabs On AFF

I am on a DSL thingy. Today I crashed and burned BIGTIME . Of course I was puzzled/irked/upset/frantic/forelorned at the occurance.

How could this happen? Welllll...I gonna tell ya. My antivirus program and spyware detectors found bugs or crabs or some crap that locked everything up. Alright, I am to computer literacy as Roseanne Barr is to pole vaulting.

Did I catch the crabs here on this site? I was here and never left when the outbreak occured. Or was my DSL connection the culprit? Do I need to rub the 'puter with Blue Ointment?

Anyone have a similar experience or an answer??

I use Ad-aware and also have mcafee online since I run a cable modem and am always connected. Using both programs I can scan for adware and unwanted programs, trackers and things that have been added to the registry. If you are running windows xp make sure you've installed service pack 2 and you might even consider changing from internet explorer to netscape, not as many holes in it. Disable pop-ups and you'll block a lot of incoming spam.

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.

Here's what I tell my clients:

First of all, install Firefox from Mozilla as your web browser. Most viruses are targeted for Internet Explorer. Firefox keeps out questionable sites and I tell folks if that a good rule of thumb is if it's questionable, then there's a reason. I've had GREAT results, no spyware problems and overall faster loading with pages using Firefox.

Best free antivirus for home users - AVG or AntiVir. AVG is through grisoft (dot) com. AntiVir is best for detecting trojans.

Best free spyware remover - if you're using Windows 2000 or newer, Microsoft Antispyware Remover has worked wonders for me. (If you're using Windows 98SE, Ad Aware works well.) Runs in the system tray and so far Microsoft hasn't charged for this one.

If you have the about:blank hijacker, try Hijack This. Removes it well as long as you can decipher the log file (or send it to someone who can).

For a great free online virus scan try housecall (dot) antivirus (dot) com. A few clicks and it can detect a myriad of negative issues, removes what it can and tells you how to get rid of the rest.

For keeping the cookies and temp internet and temp folders clear, as well as your recycle bin - try the free ccleaner (dot) com. It can be set to run by right clicking on your recycle bin or use as a desktop icon. Must be run manually.

A great free online diagnostic for your computer is pc pitstop (dot) com. Run anonymously and it will give a great deal of info about your machine. The best bet is to run your clean-up programs in safe mode. When the processes are running, you only eliminate them for the time you're on - once you restart, they resurface.

I'm no expert, but through alot of trial and error these are the ones I've found thusfar to work the best. Good luck!

This site does indeed put it`s on spyware into your computer,, also if/when you search on google they do too, When I have time when I`m not going to be using my computer I run a virus and spyware scan, I have found if I have a popup blocker as included with new netscape browser and do not tend to have all the problems either.

Dump the whole Windows shit. Buy a Mac and/or use Unix (Linux/BSD).

Didn't have a single Virus in the last 10 years. Right now my home computer is running 24/7, last time I had to reboot was three months in the past to plug in another hard disk drive.

Affbreak I have toyed with the MAC idea. Costly though. I have been eyeing a 7 11 near my place. If I knock it over in the month or so I'll nab the MAC.

If you're about to install a new browser: Go for Mozilla Firefox.

Good, fast, free, Multi-Platform (Windows/Mac/Unix) so you don't have to relearn when switching e.g. to a Mac. Woman can kiss my feet for this info.

I love Mozilla affbreak! I think the one where he fought Ghiddhra was the best. Mothra was another good one.

Id...I haven't a clue. I think affbreak was admiring 1960's Japanese Monster Movies characters.
