A Guided Tour Inside My Head ... Please Wipe Your Feet

Please try to understand, it's tough for me to be serious about anything, least of all myself. I have rewritten this sucker about 6 times. Here goes, as promised, a possible explanation why I see what I see.

The photos are of a very young tall, in my early 20's. The top photo is with a student I taught and the bottom is a shot of my forearms. When I mentioned before that I am a martial artist, I may have omitted a couple details. If anyone cares, in Chicago you can have a peek at what the real burns of honor look like. Quite different from David Carradine's.

I totally embrace the Yin & Yang concept. Complimenting opposites. You cannot have day without night, hot without cold, etc. One extreme is needed to appreciate the other. The same holds true with a personality.

The martial arts training taught me a level of violence I never knew possible. The true ability to destroy another human, to take a life at will. It was only then that I understood the need to never do such a thing. The complimenting opposite was instilled.

My stunts evolved directly from the martial arts. I saw the training a bit diffently. Rather than spend thirty years learning how to punch and kick someone 10 times in a second...it made more sense to me to spend thirty years learning how to make people NOT want to hit me.

I am also a terminal realist. I know that I am not going to be able to block any attack thrown at me. So I developed an internal strength. I figured if I can survive being shot in the face by a shotgun, survive having a bowling ball dropped on my head from 20 feet, survive being hit by a 4,000 pound wrecking ball...what are going to do to me with your hands and feet?

Sooner or later you're going to get tired of hitting me. Then we can talk.

Perhaps my sense of humor evolved after understanding the tragedy of life and the position of all humans. I can truly say, in my sunset years when reflecting back on my life...I have no "what if's". I have lived them all.

Then again...it may just be brain damage.

Anyone with a sense of humor as good as yours has to have their opposite side, and as intense the ying side can be is a good indicator that the yang side is just as intense as well. Experience with the good and bad is what makes a good comic sucessful.

Or maybe it is brain damage, what do I know?

I kinda figured it was something like this. I figured that your humor counterbalances the seriousness of your work, but I didn't realize you were a martial artists. It all makes sense now, including the reason I like you so well. I have not had a great deal of martial arts training, but I understand the concept of opposites, and my years in army special ops taught me quite enough about violence and killing.

Thanks for the peek into the other side of your head, my friend.

Saint, there's a wise old Chinese saying..."The man who lives a long life and dies with five friends...has spent way too much time alone in his room". Or something like that. I'm going with the brain damage!

...what are going to do to me with your hands and feet?

*grin* You'd love what I can do with my hands.

We are all a product of our environment. I like to think that those of us with a somewhat warped or twisted sense of being have handled lifes little unexpected surprises a lot better than those that are zoned out on prozac. They always say you've got to roll with the punches and I'd like to believe I've done a decent job of doing just that.

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.

TDA... Despite your discomfort with your more serious and sensitive side, you have done a wonderful job with this post. It doesn't surprise me your concept (on more than one level) of balance. Though you truly generate such hearty laughter for me, equally you remind me of my own balance as well. Thank you for sharing this.

Hugs & Kisses My Friend!

Human emotions have very many counter balances, one of the greatest counter balance to stress or pain is humor and laughter.Although my sense of humor tends to get me into trouble at times,I find I am far more balanced than the stressed out person giving me crap.Humor helps you be intouch with your emotions for better than stress does hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Blonde I agree completely. Humor makes it all better and worth while. Can't imagine a person's humor getting them in trouble though.

Oh, you mean the face punching stuff. Oh yea...I get it.

I was stumbling around blogland (like ya do) and found myself here...inside your head. After I tidied up a bit (you really should tend to the cobwebs before inviting people inside your head), I discovered that you are a wonderful read...some funny stuff here.

I think I loved this: "Perhaps my sense of humor evolved after understanding the tragedy of life and the position of all humans". If you look life squarely in the face, with all its tragedy, chaos, absurdity & finality... well if that doesn’t make a person laugh & shoot milk through their nose, then they just don't know funny when they see it!

Like I said, you're a good read. Thanks for the giggles...but next time I wont be drinking diet coke though, that stuff stings when it shoots out your nose!

A witty sage with a complex soul

Proud know you

And yes indeed, Everybody was Kum Fu fightininining.
Those cats were fast as lightning.
