Waiting for morning to come---for tomorrow is the beginning of the rest of my life. I will be in domestic relations court after being married for 26 years---a long time and a lot of growing up--many things have occurred in those 26 years---two children, the deaths of both my parents, the birth of my grandson. I am a little nervous--I am not looking forward to seeing the soon to be "X".

It is an uncomfortable feeling however, you will come out of this ordeal with a sense of pride, shame and relief. You will also feel like weight has been lifted off of your shoulders and will be a little apprehensive as to what the future holds for you. It is human nature for people to fear the unknown and be taken out of a mundane routine that they have lived so long with.
Embrace your new lease on life, however step lightly when traveling new paths, for there are many that will want to take advantage of what they this is your venerability. You can look forward to some new adventures.

I saw your post to schoolman's blog so I think you have done the right thing for yourself and your family. You are not the bad guy at all in initiating divorce. You show respect for yourself and your values and set the example for your children. I have been thru one divorce and it felt like such failure. We really do think we can honor our vows and we certainly try. Keep your chin up and know that you are strong enough to get past this. Don't let him get to you tomorrow. Unless he is required to appear, he may not. Be strong and best wishes.
