Politics: It's Already Been Written

I just got home after two twelve hour days. Bleahh.. Both of them started with phone calls at 10 AM asking if I could come in at noon, four hours earlier than scheduled.... I said "sure" almost never being willing to pass up overtime.

So, the significant contribution of the day is that the other guard I worked with today is an aging (even by my standards) east Indian gentleman. He had a book with him to read during the idle times, and the title of the book intrigued me. So I scanned through it when he was out on patrol.

Omigod! Someone else has observed the debacle that our president has created for our nation and our world, and come to all of the same conclusions that I have, albeit from a distinctly British point of view. All of the bewilderment, outrage, and disgust are right there on the printed page. I can rest peacefully, knowing that I'm not alone in the world....

I direct your attention to:

Terry Jones's War on the War on Terror

published in 2005, by Avalon.

The only thing lacking is that it was all written before the 2004 elections, so I can only guess as to what his reactions are to the fact that our enlightened nation decided to return the man to office for another four years....

If you get a chance, check out Greg Palast's new book, "Armed Madhouse." Comprehensive, intelligent, and the guy really knows how to write. I've been a fan of his for a few years.
