More fun with numbers

Having gotten myself into trouble with calculating the average age of the women whose blogs I frequent, and then finding out that I'm not quite as chronologically isolated as I thought, I ran another set of calculations last night, with quite the opposite results.

I set up a table of all of my watched bloggers, and then looked up the distance they are away from me, according to the numbers on their profiles. (For profiles not available, I had to estimate 2100 miles for EroticaXTC, and saintlianna isn't included. How far away is Pittsburgh?)

Boy, am I isolated!

The average distance between me and a member of my watched list is 2258 miles, for 24 blogs. If I take out the three Europeans, the number goes down to 1738 miles, and if I remove the one close person (who lives only 30 miles away, but only posts once or twice a month these days) the number goes up to 1825.

The distribution is also interesting--for the 21 domestic blogs (in the U.S. or Canada) there are 4 between 800 and 1000 miles away, and 14 who are 1900 miles or more from me.

This tells me that the bulk of you are in the eastern time zone, if not on the east coast itself. (And that's not counting Pittsburgh, which would only increase the average numbers, I'm sure.)

Well first off, being from Cleveland area, I find it is almost always best not to count Pittsburgh... hehee Okay my evilness is out of me. And ( hopefully said with a straight face) 'I am sure Pittsburgh is a wonderful place" it is quite close to me...mile wise. Only about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive... 4 if my future daughter in law is driving, less if my son is lol.. I have also found some of the 'bloggers' that are fun to read are miles away, and most us the time zone that you use. I used to think it was frustrating... but now i look upon it as a blessing. Yes, i'd love to be able to meet everyone i 'blog' with but on the other hand... thanks to the blogs I get to at least 'meet' them in some capacity Blog on...
Oh and PS i found your average age blog interesting you got in trouble for that?

The first commentor I got took me to task for being insulting to women of all ages. I re-explained what I meant and apoligized, but I've never received a reply indicating that she was un-offended, so now that will bother me.

Almost as much as the idea that I worded myself so poorly so as to offend anyone to begin with.....

well just so you know i read it and understood what you meant, so piss on em LOL. I totally followed what you said... and if it is read slowly, maybe sounding out the big words out loud, it is easy to follow. (yea i know that will get them yelling at me now ) don't worry about it, if they were not big en ought to at least thank you for the reply, then you should not worry about what they said, and if you were here I'd give you one giant sized hug.

Thank you for the thought.

I take my ability to communicate very seriously, and any detected weakness tends to freak me out....

And a hug, right back at you....

You have a REALLY interesting way of looking at things. LOL. And apparently, much too much time on your hands.

"Too much time on my hands" is a direct result of the fact that when I get home from work, several nights a week, it is 12:30 AM, and there isn't much I can do that involves anyone else.

So I'm here. and occasionally my mind persues quirky questions...
