I've lost a friend

and it took me days to figure it out.....

I knew there was something wrong when I went to do my distance computations for my watched blogs a couple of days ago. There were two ages in my table that I didn't have bloggers for. And I couldn't figure out who was missing. I looked through the list, to see if I had inadvertently removed someone, but I couldn't find them.

I've also been watching the "number of responses for the last 30 days" number climbing steadily for the last week, having reached what I would have thought were unreachable heights a month ago, and I thought the number slipped back suddenly, but it was on a day that I got a large number (for me) of comments, and I thought that I'd just remembered something wrong. (One of the missing people rematerialized today.)

So I'm fum diddling around an hour or so ago, and I'm checking out my Network Friends list, trying to see who my pendings still are, and looking at my list of acceptances, when I realize that someone is missing. So I go back to my blog, and look, and all of her messages are gone. So I go and check my AdultFriendFinder email, and see the word "removed" next to her name on my recent emails.

Princess Karma is gone. Not only gone... they've wiped out every trace of her as though she never existed. Her blog, every response she ever left on my blog, and her space in my friends list--all gone. The space in my friends list is an especially sore point for me at the moment. I haven't invited any new friends for months. I did it back when I was on a checking-out-albums binge months ago. And then, a week or so ago (I'll never be able to determine when it was exactly, any more) I received my first Network Friends invitation. It was from Princess Karma, who was among those who asked me to tell the story of Coventry, and then sat at my feet munching popcorn while I talked. (I will always have that image of her in my mind.)

And now they say that she violated the "terms of service" and has been removed for the good of us all. They let bitches like S_T spread poison in this place (at least her pseudonymous henchman also seems to have been removed, along with all of his venomous traces), but they've taken away Princess Karma, without my even being able to say "goodbye".

Something amazing has happened to me in the last month. I actually now have fans. There are those of you that I've known and corresponded with for months, and we've become what I like to think of as "friends", and I appreciate you very much, but I had also developed a handful of fans, who showed up out of no where and left comments (one of them has even read through my archives--I hadn't realized how far back she'd gone until I was looking for an old post that I needed to reference a couple of days ago and noticed that a couple of my really old posts had relatively new messages attached). These people had shown up of their own accord, having followed me home from someone else's blog and stayed, and I care very much about them, too. She was the first. And now she's gone.

I'm pissed. I'm hurt. I'm sad. And there's nothing I can do about it, except hold the picture of her sitting at my feet and munching popcorn while I told my story.

Princess Karma, I will not forget you.

Yeah, I was just talking to my front lobby guard, and trying to explain Blogville to her, and what has "happened" to me here the last month, and she (having no computer knowledge whatsoever) asked, "she can rejoin using another name, can't she?"

I had to admit that this is certainly as distinct possibility. And when she does, she'll be back here.

It's funny, because the emails we were exchanging were about how the powers that be here seem to prefer the "knuckledraggers".

Now I can't even see those emails.

I'm glad to see you're heart doesn't have to be so broken after all, and that CK has made her appearance to reassure you. PK or CK, we love her just the same...

Welcome.

Come back any time. I can't promise to ever say anything important, or entertaining, but I'm honest, and eclectic, and some people seem to be ok with that....

If I ever figure out why, I may be a happier man....

(or not.)
