As well as having a main course and sides, herbs, spices and seasonings are key to complimenting your delectible creation.
So, where to start? I guess first things first.
Please realize that spicy doesn't mean having to be "hot" in taste or flavor. & like I said, to compliment!
Now! Everyone has their likes and dislikes. It's just a matter of balancing the flavors you want to bring out. Don't be afraid to use something that is a bit "spicy" to mix in with something that doesen't quite pack the same wallop. In fact, it's better to mix with more of a flavor that might come from the opposite end of the heat spectrum. Usually by doing that you mellow out the more spicier seasoning. That way you can still have some of the flavor of the bolder spice while not getting the "ommph" that it brings.
Have you ever mixed say, some Mrs. Dash with some granulated garlic or maybe one of those fancy garlic salt mixes? "I know, I know!!" Mrs. Dash has no salt but, still carries plenty of flavor. Don't be afraid to mix and match. Really,it's all about creating and having fun. To me, cooking shouldn't be a chore, or a burden.
It doesen't have to be hard eihther. When you eat, are you enjoying your meal or, are you just putting substance in your body just to fill the hunger void? Food really is life! It brings people together. Whether big gatherings, family get-togethers or, even a simple BBQ with some friends. Food really is a vital part of our lives. So..........
