LIght

I am sensitive to light.

We had overhead lights in the house where I grew up and it wasn't the happiest house in the world. One poignant memory I have is my father just laying his head down on the kitchen table and crying. There was a round, fluorescent light in the ceiling freezing the moment in cold light, and to this day I cannot live anywhere where there is fluorescent lighting. Overhead lighting is a reminder of light shining down on unhappy heads.

In my family there is a congenital eye disease where every baby pops out with cataracts. I am one of the lucky ones born without the cataracts, but carry the gene. It is one reason I never had children (there are a couple other reasons).

Sun light was difficult for my mother and siblings because of the cataracts, and so during the day curtains were drawn to dim the light. We shut the sunlight out to help.

Today I live where I can let the sunlight in.

I won't use the overhead lights in my apartment. They make me feel uneasy. I use lamps that give soft underlighting. I'm particularly fond of red lampshades, they cast a warm glow.

I used to keep a lot of lights on until The Musician came into my life. He liked it almost dark when he came to visit. We used to have little power struggles over the light, until over the course of 8 years I just adjusted and compromised.

Now people think I'm odd because I have such low light at night. Habits change slowly, especially when they have been conditioned by lovers.

I miss the beautiful light of the Arizona desert. Here in LA, the light is diffused by the smog. But the light is stunning at the beach, refracting through ocean mist and glinting off the waves.

Here are a few questions to choose from:

Was the house you grew up in a happy house?

How many pairs of sunglasses do you have?

How many bloggers does it take to change a light bulb?

Do you prefer sex with the lights on or off?

Do you have any sex toys that glow in the dark?

You are right about the light at the beach. The sunsets are gorgeous. I am very sensitive to light, but then I can't read unless there is good light.

I grew up in a happy house, although everyone had their little tifs.
I have two pairs of sunglasses but can never find them.
I don't think the lightbulb would ever get changed with bloggers...too busy blogging
I prefer sex with soft lighting or candles.
My sex toys don't glow

How many pairs of sunglasses do you have? None

Do you prefer sex with the lights on or off? Yes.

Do you have any sex toys that glow in the dark? xgf made me throw all my toys away.

My night vision is sufficiently bad that I need a fair amount of light to read. Other than that, I lead a pretty dim life.

"she made you throw out your sex toys?

no wonder she is xgf"

She was intensely jealous of any pervious relationship and hated anything that reminded her that in my 50 years, I'd ever had a relationship with anyone else.... other things that got discarded included a briefcase, a pocket watch, and a hair brush that I'd had for close to 30 years.....

And she left me, not vice versa. The discard campaign was part of my conversion to her monagamist p.o.v..... This is part of why I'm still pissed, ten months later.

Was the house you grew up in a happy house? Yes, for the most part it was a happy house. Now looking back, after my mother died, I can see that she suffered from depression but I dont think she knew it, heck, they probably didn't have a name for it back then.

How many pairs of sunglasses do you have? I never owned any until this yr. For some reason the sun seems to bother my eyes more this yr than it ever has in the past. This yr I have boughten 3 pairs.

How many bloggers does it take to change a light bulb? LOL good question, probably quite a few!!!

Do you prefer sex with the lights on or off? I prefer sex with a dim light on, nothing bright, but not total darkness either.

Do you have any sex toys that glow in the dark? ummmmmmmmm, no, I don't own anything the glows, LOL

At home, I sit in the dark mostly. People always think I'm strange when they stop over. I never have lights on, and I never have the TV on, heck, I don't even have the radio or stereo on. When I get home from work, I just enjoy the peace and serenity my home gives me.

Hi SD,

The house I grew up in was a happy home...we had 4 generations from great grandmother to us children. We had loads of cousins...plenty of playmates...story telling...get togethers...except for the exception of my grandmother who was a total nagger (just saying facts not being disrespectful)
one pair of sunglasses my puppy chewed the other pair hehehe
bloggers...well it takes none...they can't agree which way to turn the bulb...differing opinions.
sex with lights one darling and mirrors everywhere if possible...love watching...
none.
