I'm gonna pump - - you up!

The pump arrived Monday. Like a child on Christmas morning, I drug the box up to my bedroom and began tearing the packaging to shreds; quickly inspecting each part, assembling the tubing and still feeling slightly guilty for having spent so much money.

Five speeds, five levels of suction -- Oh Boy! I just had to find out what full suction felt like so I cranked it all the way up. Instant gratification! My only regret was not having a third hand to rub my clit while my nipples were being sucked into the clear chambers. Damn it felt good and I loved watching those nipples get drawn in so deep. It wasn't too long, though, before it actually started to hurt, so I backed it down, layed back and just enjoyed the soft rhythmic tug. After all, that's what will coax the milk, not yanking on them to get me off.

One of the natural reactions to nursing (for the feeder as well as the one being fed) is to become extremely relaxed. I actually dozed off. Not, as it turns out, a good idea when you're hooked up to a breast pump. I ended up getting a blister on my right nipple. Oops!

This, however, has not deterred me from my goal. Discomfort is an unavoidable biproduct of breastfeeding, and the rewards far outweigh the drawbacks. My hope is restored that more constant stimulation will bring me closer to my desired results.

All and still, a machine will never replace a warm, wet, hungry mouth.
