Christmas in the Philippines

1.The 9 days midnight mass. Its a tradition here in our country to have this midnight mass or the misa de gallo, from December 16 to 24. The mass was usually held at 4 a.m in the morning. Walking in cold early morn with a lovers, friends or family members makes every midnight mass a special one.
2.Giant lanterns festival was also held. Our province is cnsidered to be the latern capital of the Philippines, were different laterns of diffrent sizes and shapes were being sold. We also have the Christmas village or the Paskuhan village were we showcase the giant man made lanterns with also 3000 bulbs in each lantern.Parade of laterns for 9 days just like the midnight mass was also done.
3. Carolers. As soon as December made its way in the calendar, carolers of different groups and ages come to visit every house to sing for us.
4.Noche Buena. Of course without the traditional noche buena, the celebration wont be complete. Eating, feasting, and gift giving during midnight of december 24th in evry filipino home. No matter how hard life is , how poor a family is , filipinos still manage to make a simple dinner to be shared on that Noche Buena.
5.Christmas is for kids. This has been the general mentality of evry filipino. Every filipino parent , regardless of ones status in life, they tried their best to buy new clothes for their kids , so that they could wear it on Christmas. Shopping malls were busy during this time of the year. Evry filipino family see to it that they hear mass on the morning of December 25 and after that they will go from relatives houses to visit and for the young children to kiss the hands of the elders. This is the opportunity to give something to evry kid that kisses your hands to give something to them.

6. Rice Cakes. Pastries, cakes, chocolate puddings Christmas is truly a day of sweets. The traditional rice cake is favorite in very house of an ordinary filipino family.

Our country is very rich in tradition and festivities, Christmas to us is very important. During this time of the year ,lets forget work, pains, problems, and miseries. We have the longest Christmas in the Philippines inspite of the fact that we are struggling in poverty but we are proud to say that inspite of that, we value , we give so much time, and effort in celebrating this special day. Our families, friends, godchildren and lovers, children, elders were the given the most important gifts during this day. LOVE.

Merry Christmas to all of you guys...God Bless you all.
