KIcking it With the Generals

I spent the last few days in the D.C. area visiting family. Nice place to visit, but a country girl, like myself, cannot stand the perpetual traffic. Thank goodness for the Metro.

A family member, was retiring from many years of service in the military. There was a very nice ceremony and reception. I got to meet several generals. It was a very interesting discussion I had with two of them. Without actually saying it, they expressed their dismay with the current administration's policy in the mideast. It was not too difficult to read between the lines. Being career military, I'm sure they have had to eat lots of crow and keep their traps shut; otherrwise they wouldn't be generals.

We managed to get in some sight-seeing with the kids. Not having been in DC in ages, I had never before been at the Vietnam War Memorial. I found the name of a friend's big brother. I still remember the day they found out. I cried for him and his family, and all of the senseless deaths. Even my youngest son was teary. I'm glad that I went.

The rest of the trip was fun. I could spend several days exploring all of the buildings at the Smithsonian. We stayed in Alexandria, and had a really nice time in Old Towne.

Now it's back to the realities of my everyday life. There is laundry to do and toilets to clean, and meals to cook. Almost too much to do. Wish I could just kick back and meet my lover for some quality sex. Damn, I'm in need. Guess that masturbation will suffice for now.
Later, folks!!!!!

I've always thought it ironic that the ambitious must often put up with a lot of stupidity or even abuse as they climb to the top. The thought really came home during the confirmation hearings for John Bolton as U.N. ambassador. He pretty clearly is a psycho with serious ego and anger-management problems, and all these staffers simply had to suck it up if they wanted to get ahead. I just couldn't do it. I'm not saying that makes me better; it's just how I am. I guess I'll never be secretary of state, but I won't be anybody's biatch, either (well, not unless she wears leather and carries a flail). And that's fine by me.

I know exactly how you feel. Been on many trips and know the reality of returning home. Lots to do and sometimes little time to do it. Being a widower now it makes it even tougher. Sometimes you need that quality time to satisfy yourself. If you need help with that let me know. Sometimes I could use the help to.
