so .........

so i was just wondering? when do we have time to read? i am an avid reader and collector of books, so simply put ... whats your favorite book? ever read anything that just swept you away?

its like the 80's song question, not really fair, but just close your eyes and think about a time you read something that just ravished your imagination ... a poem, a short story, novel, hell even the sides of medicine bottles can be considered horror stories *winks* so what was your favorite bibliophillic escape?

and, do you know me enough to try and guess what mine might be?*grinz slyly*

I have three young kids so reading right now isn't something I get to do. I ahve read some great books in the past, my favorite being Brave New World.

what works for me .... take the kids to a comic book shop and give um 10 bucks each to buy whatever their lil hearts want ... my daughter loves manga now ... (and for the love of god i cant get her to stop talking about wanting to go to japan)... but heres the trick ... the kids work out about 4 comics per trip, and it takes um about 20 mins to read each one once ... creative math, in effect i'm bribe'n um to read, and more importantly, shut up, so i can. *winks*

as for my favorite book, i really cant say, but i read a book of short stories by hemmingway, and one called "hills like white elephants" just blew me away. and as i closed the book after reading the last line twice, i just sat back and thought to meself, "wow, thats just better than anything else i've ever read" (not counting the harry potter books which just kick all kinda's ass notwithstanding) *winks*

and as for the first real novel i ever read, the one that got me hooked on books anyway, it was "lightning" by dean koontz ... not the best novel in the world but i was a kid and it still has a pretty cool twist in the middle of it that leaves ya grinning. can even remeber the second and third novels i read, "ender's game" by card, and "the shineing" by king ... man i had good taste for a grade schooler ....*smiles with apparent lack of modesty*
