Wine Drunk

Sometimes one can be gloriously lost in the fading light, dimly shining on that which remains of sobriety. Like gazing out of a train tunnel, or through a cardboard tube, one is narrowly focused on only one thing at a time. Perhaps it is necessary that one accomplishes this thing, mayhaps not.

I see not the need to concentrate on anything besides tipping the glass to my lips once more, abandoning myself to the dizzy, delightful realm of pleasant drunkenness.

Being wine-drunk is so much softer and easier - almost gentle, when compared to a vodka drunk or a beer drunk. I can't say I mind, though it seems more like slipping down a steep hill into inebriation than taking a dive into a pool.

Hold me close, my friend Cabernet, and hold my mind steady as unconciousness approaches, looming ahead like a washed out bridge on a rain-filled thunder-bound night.
