Absolutly no sex in this post, matter of fact, reading for computer geeks only.

Not sure how long the subject can be so here it is in case it got cut off: Absolutly no sex in this post, matter of fact, reading for computer geeks only.

1st a tiny bit about me... I am a 'network admin' - or thats what is easiest to tell people. In reality I do anything and everything computer related where I work. I even fix answering machines when needed. I am sure there are a ton of you reading this that do similar work - its a thankless job in many ways (as are A LOT of jobs).

So here is a little rant inspired because I just got an email with this subject line, "HELP"

DON'T send out emails with the subject line of 'help' - it makes me panic, especially when all it is is a message asking people to HELP get the fridge cleaned out.

DON'T call me at 5:05pm from home with a computer problem related to your HOME computer.

Lastly, if you are having computer problems REBOOT your computer first - if the problem continues, call me.

That being said, if you are a very attractive female co-worker you can do anything you want, as a matter of fact, do it twice.

Nick, have a brother that tells similar stories - esp the thankless part. He gets a little ticked with ladies that ingeniously mess up their computers just to get him out there, "Why can't they come and jump me in my huge office, all alone?" his most frequent message to them is an email, "Back away from the computer lady!" Now, in all fairness to the rest of your regular audience let me say there are lots of women that know TONS about computers (including his "harem" me thinks). I'm not proposing that guys are the only ones that know their way aroung Bits, Bytes (and nibbles? ) Have great day

Nick - get back to work.

Your boss.

PS - the coffee holder (that little thing that slides out from the front when you push the button) on my computer is broken, can you come and fix it?

Another thought.... don't wear an low cut blouse if you don't want my eyes to drift. downward. I swear... I am NOT a 'boob' guy, but when they are right there in front of me my eyes drift, and i hate getting caught because I blush and can't tell!! Thankfully the subject of my wandering eye today is one the the attractive co-workers.

Exp - don; tyou dare - direct all complaints to luvpump although last I saw he was ignoring our posts.

reisen, I know of no attractive woman here that breaks their computer to get me to come help them, and if I did I would NOT complain (at least in the beginning). Yes there are tons of women that know a lot more than myself, but hey, we're guys (straight guys I mean), we aren't gonna talk about cute guys breaking their computers to get the cute IT chick to come help.

Rants from a Senior Unix & Windows guru...

**RTFM! Read The F****** Manual!

**Before buying that game read the system requirements TWICE!!
(Corporate laptops aren't the best systems for 3D games)

**Disable some of those 10+ startup programs residing in the system tray! (start->run->msconfig)Frees Up RAM and allows quicker boots.

**Update your virus definitions - antivirus apps are only as good as the definition files used to detect viruses.

**Majority of broadband connection issues are related to spyware, trojans and viruses. (papyrina?)

**RTFM!! (Did I say this one already)??

**Filter your incoming email, emails are the #1 culprit for viruses.

**Minor Windows problems == Reboot

**Major Windows problems == Reformat

**Linux for Dummies ... great book to get you on your way towards FREE computing. Free Operating System, Free software and Free of headaches.
