The"Purging" Diet, and why it sucks

Okay so I am really wanting to lose weight. I am at 128 right now and I am just not satisfied with it. I would love to be at like 115. But anyway, I have been doing something lately that I know is definetely not healthy or smart. But now I have started it and I cant stop. I have been purging after I eat. I know its stupid, but it really works and that's why I started it. And now it sucks, cause every time I eat I get sick to my stomach and I just cant keep my food down. I dont consider myself as having the eating disorder, Buliemia, but I am definetely heading there if I dont start controlling myself. Since I started purging I have developed indigestion and I get heartburn a lot after I eat. My chest and throat hurts too. I am trying to stop myself before I get worse, because I am beginning to realize the side effects just aren't worth the weight loss. So if anyone who reads this is considering to start purging to lose weight, I dont recommend it...

Funny I have never tried this diet and I still wouldn't of recommended it. I got a few things to say:

You do not just need to control your eating habits. You have a much bigger fight on your hands and you do not know it. If you fix the eating thing but do not fix your problem with your self-image then it will all be for nought (indeed I will await with interest your next post, I can see it now......'I am currently doing the Cocaine Diet. It really works but I am really skint and have to prostitute myself to pay for and I cannot stop my nose I would not recommend it!')

Is that you in the picture? Yes. Then were is the bit of weight you are trying to lose? I hate to break it to you but it appears to have already gone. You do know there is a such a thing as too skinny (not just in terms of health but also in terms of atrractiveness?) If, through all the pressure you are putting on yourself and health problems you are storing up, you actually live to be 60 (jesus even 40 or 50) you will look back at yourself and see what a stupid girl you truly are to of worried and risked your health other a few pounds.

This part I want you to take real interest in. It is a FACT that you cannot lose weight effectively on a diet. Here is why...

1. You are starving yourself, so technically you will lose weight but it will not be fat. Fat is stored energy and it is the hardest thing to convert from fat to energy. By starving yourself your body declares a state of emergancy and burns the thing which is easiest to convert to energy......which is muscle. This is one reason (amongst others) that people feel weak when dieting. They are burning their muscle reserves.

2. Because your body is not getting food your body declares it state of emergency and here are a few things that happens:

- you stop burning all fat because you are getting no food, your body is trying to keep its fat reserves for as long as possible.

- you have no food in your body produces more stomach acid to burn up what is in your gut quicker (to get that energy into the bloodstream). But you have no food in your gut! So what happens to that acid. Two things, firstly it sits there and gives you indegetion, occasionally it leaps up your oesophagus and gives you heart burn, secondly it starts to digest your own stomach.

In order for your body to produce the necessary chemicals for you to burn fat you need to eat a full and varied diet. That is three meals a day with two snacks in between. It is a simple thing to do (but aren't they always the hardest?). To lose weight you must cut out sugar and refined carbohydrate (which enters the blood stream quickly and turns to fat.....examples include white bread, biscuits, cakes potatoes etc) but not fat itself (there are two types of fat you must have a little of both in your blood stream to lose weight). You will need 5 portions of fruit and veg (the reason no-one defines a portion is that it different fruit and veg have different portions) and you will need protein. In order to lose weight you must drink 2 litres of water a day.

If you follow the above advice you NEED NOT STARVR YOURSELF, YOU COULD EAT AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE (of the correct food) AND LOSE WEIGHT. Not only that your skin and hair would look fantastic as they would be getting all the correct nutriants.

Instead of following crank diets that go against the laws of your own body why not try being kind to yourself and giving your body all the things it needs to be healthy? If you could apply the same zeal to that as you have to starving yourself (your poor body) then this entry would read different. 'The Greek Doctors Diet' published by Rodale is a book that will outline a good diet based on providing your body with what it needs (nutrition) rather than abstinence.

FINALLY......all types of diets are off for you I am afraid. From the symptoms you described you are closer to Bulemia than you think (a rhetorical question....have your periods been affected? how about dzzy spells, spots in front of your eyes? if so then you a displaying many of the classic symptoms, including the ones described). YOU NEED TO GO TO YOUR DOCTOR REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU CAN DISMISS THIS OR NOT....please have a little fear for yourself and a little sense of self-preservation. I would imagine that your stomach has shrunk and you have given yourself a psychological barrier against eating food. In short your body is not capable of handling a normal diet right now. You might need to go on a secial diet (for example liquids only) in order to build up your stomach again.

You might say that I am over-reacting but I want you to bear in mind that you have been puking your food up, i.e. little to no food is going into your body. You are starving to death, it really does not take that much time. Go to an expert and let them be the judge of how healthy you are.

I recomend you try to change now before things get worse . and for what its worth just go slow I cant tell you that you have to loose weight thats your mind set . just eat healthy , exercise a lil . dont forget breakfast . I also hear Sex is a great workout . lol

Sweetie,I am just going through the same hell,only I am not purging so much yet,only eating.
It may help if you fast and drink a lot of water or weak tea ,one day only,and then you can start making your stomach a little easier by yoghurt or soy milk,
Of course everybody knows you have to eat within measure,and regularly,but when the devil gets you....
BTW I wish I were near you so i could help you taking really good exercise....yummyyyyy

Okay I see that the answer is up there. So I will add my opinion in a different way. You are a beautiful vibrant woman. Men are far more attracted to women who take care of themselves than they are to their body style/type ect. If a man doesn't love you for the whole package then they dont really love you at all. This goes for yourself as well. If you dont love yourself for how you look(not what you think you should be) then you dont really love yourself at all. We all(society as a whole) need to lose some weight. I'm included 6'4" 210 lbs, but I still maintain the requirements that my body needs.

Please don't be afraid to seek the help you need. you will feel better about yourself and that will be more attractive to men than how you look. Back me up here guys. My wife is 5'2" and 130 lbs She wishes she could be 125, because she has been there before, but she did it on exercise and smart eating. But I still found her attractive after she had our child and weighed 150, because of her personality and love of life.

Here's hoping that you listen to those who you don't know, but CARE about you and want to see you healthy and whole emotionally.

Please let us know how your progressing. Asking for help is the first sign and the best one, now follow up on that urge and seek out locals who can really help you.

You have a very beautiful body. I hope you can stop and keep yourself healthy we abuse our bodies enough through everyday life. If you do want to lose weight try changing you eating habits. Like do not eat late at night and if you want to snack try eating different types of fruit. That has helped me. Also if you want to burn some calories a few hours of hot sex a day will do the body good. Good luck.
