I know someone who loves to watch Walker, Texas Ranger. For me, I find the show so wholly putrid that I can't stand watching it (just like CNN).
Was just watching it, and Chuck walked into a exercise facility, with no warrant, no probable cause, but looking for information. He (and his partner) then proceeded to assault several people without provocation, and searched through a couple people's belongings, and miraculously found some coke in one guy's gym bag. Then, went back, beat up the club front desk guy, and blackmailed him into snitching.
Now, if this was based in reality, Walker would be guilty of:
Illegal search and seizure.
Multiple counts of assualt & battery.
Destruction of private property.
The evidence gained would be inadmissable, and everyone who was assualted would be able to sue Walker, the state of Texas, and the police department they represent.
And a half-assed lawyer would be able to make it stick. And though something sinister was stopped (in this fantasy world) and justice was eventually achieved, in the world of reality, the rule of law is important, not justice.
So, me being critical right now stems from the fact that I'm not a big fan of Chuck, unrealistic script writing, and a lack of intelligent thought.
Besides, in reality, a guy with an automatic weapon would have no problem taking out someone with just a 9mm semi-auto pistol. Yet, Mr. Single Shot can take out 7 people with a shot each, while the Auto group can't hit the broadside of a barn.
Moral of the story, fantasy & reality are two different things. Learn the difference.
