What is this thing called information?

In my opinion (nothing deviant, really), there愀 two types of information "out there". Information worth saving, and information that should be disposed of immediately (willingly recycled somehow). Anyhow, I惴 extremely lazy when it comes to throwing away unnecessary info. In my home there愀 like billions of little notes, phone numbers, to do-lists, receipts, boxes (with important texts regarding a pair of shoes, soundcards, remote controls etc), or whatever rubbish I扉e saved because of one or another stupid piece of information. I think the value of information is very, very temporary in todays society. And also very changeable. The supply side on information vastly exceeds the demand side, don愒 you think? Anything can be true or false depending on "what you believe in", and "whats true today may be false tomorrow"... ...how on earth are you supposed to create any kind of sensible conception of the world out of that? My suggestion is by starting to sort out, and dispose of, unnecessary information.
All good and well, but how do we know what kind information we want/need? Hmmm... I suppose that all information we stack and never use is trash, so a reasonable start would be to clear out infotrash adjacent to our lives in general, e.g. clearing our cellphones from names we never call. It愀 not much, but it愀 a start. The lesser infotrash, the lesser stress.
