I sit here this morning, wondering if we got the snow that we were projected to get (too dark out yet to see) and missing where I grew up. I grew up with lots of snow, and mountains to ski on. I know live in a flat, windy climate - nearest "ski hill" is about 2 hours away.
The reasons for coming out here were just at the time, and the reason for me staying now are just as valid, but can not stop wondering and wishing about my "home". I miss skiing, and I miss the clear sky's and air of my mountains.
I miss being able to get away from it all with just a short walk into my backyard, or a short drive to really be away from everything - here one has to drive for miles to get away from everything, and even then, it is still flat.
I guess the saying is true - there is no place like home.......but what of the saying "home is where the heart is?"
