I went with someone today who's grandma died to help them go through her things.I want to tell ya all this lil 88 year old lady who lived by herself had all the cutest tiny stuff sitting all over her house. It was sooo neat and organized. When ya opened her drawers they smelled like lavender and everything was folded just perfect.Photographs from 80 years ago to now was framed beautifully everywhere and stored neatly elsewhere. The linen closet smelled like sheets that had blown out in the sun and the fresh air all day,ya just wanted to stick your face in there. She had these gorgeous hat boxes and must have had the tiniest feet and loved shoes cause there was 4 rows of them in the closet. She had 3 big jewelry boxes stacked on top of each other that held nothing but costume jewelry, but ya could tell she treated them like they were treasures. Her house was a pretty open book..no surprises.

Later, when I got home to my house I walked into my own room."Lordy..woman!"I said..good thing something didn't happen to me tonight.Just look at my room.Sure would be hating for people to go through this frigging mess!

My drawers are overflowing with underthings in every color of the rainbow.I have a few sex toys tucked here and there hid.A few naughty pictures of myself and a couple of my men friends too.A diary I keep of things believe or not I've yet to reveal.Old love letters,a few poems from people I cherish that have been sent to me.About 20 rubbers, that don't look too good..lol.KY jelly, some lube,flavored..my stash, yes,I admit it here, and nothing in my drawers ever seems to stay folded up.They probably smell like incense cause thats where I keep mine.

Damn..I gotta get this shit in order..find a secret board in the floor for some of this stuff or somewhere else for it.What if something happens to me???

SOooo..tell me..Is your stuff in good shape,organized..ready for people to go through it??

Or..Are ya a mess?? Do ya got stuff ya hope no one ever will discover about ya?..like your kids??..or your mom??

Would ya be ready for people to go through your drawers???

When someone comes along, gonna give ya some love and affection,I say..Get it while ya can.

HELL NO!!! I got my toys, porn and erotica in my drawers. Not to mention my sexy lingerie. Shit, I gotta find a good place to stash that stuff. I'm not getting any younger!

We keep our 'toys' hidden away...most of my BDSM gear is in a travel bag, so prying eyes stay away.

Hell yes, I'm a slob...I'd hate for someone to have to go through that stuff.

I remember when we had to go through my Grandmother's house after she'd passed away (my Grandfather had passed away a few years before). Her kids decided to let her grandkids go through and take some things if they wanted to...I picked up some things that meant a lot to me...and afterwards, I sat out in the truck with my lady and cried like a f*ckin' baby, I felt like a damn vulture.

Now, I can look at the things I got and smile...because they bring back such good memories.

When you look at the rooms in my house they do at first appear tidy, but dare to open a drawer or cupboard door, and you would be entering the twilight zone, and are most likely to get an injury from a falling object, everything from, old letters, photos, knives, toothbrushes etc are stuffed in my drawers, and some are so full they are getting kind of hard to open!!

When I moved into my rental house almost a year and a half ago, I decided that I was going to leave with less than 2/3 of the junk that I brought in. I'm making slow but steady progress at sorting and tossing old paperwork, receipts, clothes that don't fit any more, etc. They might find a few condoms in the sock drawer (so I don't have to run to the bathroom in an "emergency" LOL ), but since I have a curious 5-year-old running around, there isn't much else to find. All my scary stuff is buried on my computer.

MzHuny, ... I am VERY proud to say that I don't think our daughters would be too shocked at anything they would find in our house the only exception might be if they were to figure out the password for my stash of digital photos stored carefully on a big password protected USB drive. The reason this is true is because they visit here all the time and already know what a mess we have... If someone else tried to sort things out they would be horrified. We have thought about attaching some sort of warning device to our our parents cars so that the minute they cross the border into Virginia there will be bells and sirens that go off. That should give us enough time to get things hidden.

We are facing a BIG challenge in the coming month. We have some very dear friends who will be spending 2 weeks in our home in early June. These friends would be shocked... no, make that mortified to discover any details of the fairly recent shift in focus of our private lives. We may have to take some of the same steps that our good friend Polly describes in the blog article where she talks about preparing for her daughters recent visit I'm Taking a Rest from Blogging

As for TOYS... I don't have any of my own but my wife has a tote bag filled with toys and lubricants (no handcuffs yet and yes, she shares the toys with me whenever I ask). Just in case our daughters should discover this stash, my thoughtful wife took careful steps so they wouldn't be overly shocked at the discovery... she gave them each a very nice glass dildo and a vibrator for Christmas. See, no surprises there.

I do have a major challenge in my office though... it's overflowing, there is paper and magazines and computer parts and pieces everywhere. I am a full-time telecommuter and most of the office clutter belongs to my employer and they would NOT be amused should they be required to sort through the rubble.... Guess I need to work on that.

Now... I'm chuckling to myself as I think about one of our beloved TiVos (digital TV Recorders). This is a bit bizarre, it is the one in our family room and it is the only one that is connected with a digital tuner/de-scrambler box. My wife (yeah, blame it one her, she's not here to defend herself) sometimes schedules the TiVo to record some soft porn on late night HBO. This is the very same TiVo that our grandsons use to record their kiddie shows (what's fair is fair... right). The kids are good, they know which shows are theirs but we are going to have to sanitize that machine before our friends arrive!

Since selling the house and moving into the Beaver I've down sized a lot. Everything I own has to be placed so that it stays put when I make a quick turn or stop so it's usually very neat. Don't think there's anything in here to surprising. Guess that's because I lead such a boring life.

As far as freaking people out if they had to go through my things, it would be my daughter and she knows how I live.I'm comfortable in my home and thats what counts to me. when my grandma died a few years ago, grandpa had mom and my aunt and cousins come clean the house. grandma was a packrat and her house was always a bit cluttered and messy. One day while cleaning in the bedroom... they got the shock of their lives. Grandma... big, tall, overweight, super-serious, grumpy, german (well: stereotypical german all the way)... had a stash of playgirl magazines, sex books, and "toys". I wasn't there. but hearing it from mom... EVERYbody was embarressed.

My apartment is a mess packrat trying to weed it all out. When my mom moved in last summer... i tossed all my "toys" in fear she'd open a drawer by mistake and find them. And I hid all my books. though thinking now, had she opened the drawer after all my precautions... i would have had to explain why it was completely empty lol. i'd just be embarressed to have ANYbody see my mess... adult toys or otherwise. Getting better though.

And we have a great relationship...we have very few secrets...he knows I'm one this site and has even seen a few of the pictures...his response was 'Damn Mom' thats not you is it...you look good!! All my pictures are tastefully done so I have no problem with my son seeing them...I have no nude shots or pictures of my suzy...and yes I do have a few toys and my son knows...but he has never seen them. He even looked through the magazine that I ordered then from...I can only imagine his reaction He'd probably just shake his head and say 'Damn'

Most of my house is neat and well organized. I do have pockets of absolute devastation however. The area immediately around my computer is a paper jungle, and my workroom leading to my toolroom is to the point of being dangerous. The problem there is scrap lumber. I can, and do, often build things that I need from the scrap piles. It saves a trip to the lumber yard, but the price is a room full of odd sized lumber, aluminum and steel.

Of course we all have at least one "junk drawer".

It's not a mess. It is you. All of you. From the intellectual to the sexual. Everything in those drawers tell a little story about you. And we as humans are imperfect. And that imperfection is the beauty of life. We all have our secrets- usually waiting to be freed. May it be in life, or in death, or not at all. Does it really matter?

Had an apt. fire once in my 20's. Firemen threw everything out of the window. Including two dildo's and a vibrator. I spent every second I could instilling in these guys the toys were my girlfriends. Much to her dismay. Word gets around in a Jersey corn town of 3000 people. It was a lesson in humility, for sure!

Here's my thing. Organized? Ready for people to go through it? To a tee. Is it folded and put away? No, but that's just a matter of stepping away from other things and taking the time to do it, hopefully with a person who enjoys tidying things. The laundry I packaged for ya last time was folded in about five minutes. I know where the shirts go. I know where the pants go. I know where everything I have ever worn goes. However, some of my clothing is the kind of clothing that everyone wears in the bedroom, but no one feels comfortable walking the streets with. Fortunately, after years of planning, I have found a way to wear these clothes in a way that will drive em crazy, yet being the first to do it this way will be easier once I have someone to be comfortable wearing them with. While being the first to stand on top of a skyscraper with my middle stub up, wearing a shirt that says, "Fuck You. This is my style." is going to put comfort in others who previously didn't step outside the bedroom, if I do it standing on a milk crate, I would likely not have the same affect. (read my "Our LAdy Peace comment" in my "Land of opportunity" post for more on that. Fortunaelty for me, I wear more than one style of clothing, and am extremely creative about how I wear it. This is what separates me from the rest. When I am standing on the skyscraper, every friggin reporter in the country is gonna wanna go through my clothes, but they are my clothes, so I let them see only what I want, when I want. I am aware that these clothes must be worn for the sake of everyone, and it kills me sometimes to not even be at the elevator yet, but my fashion sense is elaborate, so I mustn't let others steer me from it. In some ways, mystery is the secret of my success. How can I really talk about my clothes here, though. In short, I am ready to lay them out, and am dying for people to see them.

Organized?? Some is, and some isn't. The fun stuff is "hidden" in an old purse beneath the bed. The DVDs are in the drawer under some old shorts... just realized that, AFTER I sent my daughter in to that drawer to borrow some shorts! I don't think she dug that deep, but... she's kinda young to find that stuff in her parents' room. I'll have to find a new place.

And stuffed. My drawers are ALWAYS stuffed. Stuff I don't wear anymore, that I think I'll get into, I can't seem to throw it away. Even when I do, it's only to layer down to another layer of just-slightly-newer stuff...

Oh, well, hope I don't go any time soon!
