If theres one statement I totally agree with its "Theres no place like home."Ya just about have to drag me away from where I live with a rope tied around me.And for me driving anywhere on my own..forget it!If its as much as 25 or 30 miles from things I'm use to being around and ain't in a straight line back to my house,I get lost every time. Therefore I never have went on trips driving alone.

So last Sunday,my sis "Mzlola",talked me into riding to Indiana with her.I haven't been back there for about 4 years and sure didn't have nothing going on here in Hicktown, sooo we packed up the dog and away we go.

The trip made me remember why I don't like roadtrips..cause things always happen...

Sooo here we are beebopping down the road listening to the new Dixie Chicks song that I OOhh sooo love.."Not ready to make nice."..Soo I got it cranked and I'm singing along and she's saying.."Do ya see where my ciggie went?I threw it out the window.I smell smoke.See if it went in the back seat.."

I lean way ain't back there no where..but as I sit back up..I see this spiral of smoke coming from the back of her head!"Your hair's on fire!"

"Are ya fucking with me?"she says as her hand goes to her head and the car starts going all over the road and the other hand is going for the rearview mirror so she can see."Get it out!"she screams.About then she gets ahold of it and we're half off the road and a little bit still on it,the dog's going wild, cars honking at us.She's breathing hard, holding the smoking butt and a handful of burnt hair.Hell,we barely got out of that alive..see what I mean,no place like home, where I should be.

Well..we get there safe and sound...have a nice time, start back.I'm ready to go home.Ya all know me,I'm ready to crank some tunes.Play some country.Sis don't like it,but she lets me play it for awhile.

So there we are chilling to my man Trace Adkins, smoking our ciggies very carefully, enjoying the view..when all of a sudden everybody starts slamming on their brakes!Just out of the frigging blue!!!The dog comes flying out from between the I'm telling ya..this is why I stay home..ya can get hurt far away from home..lordy!See what I mean?? soon as everyone got to moving and thank goodness nobody hit anyone was a mama duck and 5 lil babies that causes all the commotion walking across the damn road!Don't that get all??

Like I said...I ain't one for roadtrips..and I'm sure ya all have had some awesome ones not just a silly one like mine...Do ya all have any funny roadtrip stories?

Theres no place like home for me..come down and see me..tell me about your roadtrip on the

When someone comes along, gonna give ya some love and affection,I say..Get it while ya can.

One time I missed the fact that the road was under repair (though I still maintain the signage was crap) and hit gravel right on a corner. We were bricking it, I assure you, as we went sideways past an oncoming logging truck at about 100kph(60mph)! Needn't have worried though, the vehicle following it, that we also drifted past, was an ambulance.

Here's another night owl and my cat's pestering the heck outta me cause it's way past bed time. Anyway, this reminds me of two ciggie incidents while driving. I was nineteen with my very first car and my grandfather set my back seat on fire with his damn cigar. I drove right up in someone's driveway yelling to them that I needed water! At thirty I was barreling down the highway about 85 MPH in Arizona and the ash from my cig dropped between my legs. By the time I got the car stopped I had burned a hole in the seat of a rental car, burned out the crotch of my pants and singed my you-know-whats!

Now Mz Huny, the next time you get lost just click your heals together and say "Theres no place like home" three times and you, the dog and that little jeep will be transported right back to Hicksville; but don't wear ruby red shoes or ya might end up in Kansas.

I remember about 3 years ago I was on a family road trip down to the beach. Well along the way I must have missed the road I was supposed to turn down on (I am a man and I have a problem asking for directions, go figure). Well after about 15 minutes of making turns etc., my then 5 year old little boy pipes up from the back seat and says, "This is some shit driving!".

How bout a boat trip? Several years ago, I was 8 months pregnant and the hubby and I went fishing. We hauled the big ole Ranger bass boat to a lake about 75 miles away. We fished and fished. We were in the back of a creek that was really shallow so the ex pulls the motor up so the propellor is out of th water. We fished some more and thendecided we would try this other good looking spot down the river. So, instead of using the trolling motor to get out of the creek doughdough brain cranks up the big motor and the prop went flying off into this green muck we were in. Can't find it. The trolling motor battery is getting low. We use it and troll down the river. We find this boat launch that has a pier to tie up to. We tie up and the ex goes up to the road, leaving me to guard the boat and Im 8 mo pregnant. It was May, it was HOT! The scenario gets worse and worse, I'm taking up too much space here. I was fine, no baby born in the boat!

I used to love taking road trips when i was younger. The thrill of the open highway and the adventures yet to come always got me. Never anything too exciting lol, just enough to keep me seeking the thrill every now and then. Now i drive for a living, so i tend to stick closer to home in my spare time.

People are always oh so excited about leaving there home to go on vacation then 2 days later they want to go home lol.. We all go on vacation/travel to go to different places looking for vacation like things. Alot of that in which we go for on vacation we could have at home. Why not make the home you live in a vacation home by installing things you do on the road at home.. Hot tubs , flower gardens even trellis set ups to make it rain Forest if you like that kinda thing all can be done at your home. Get all you want there then live under my

The most unusual road trip was that of a passenger of mine. A lizard had decided to take up residence in my truck...I'm not a litter bug so of course ever thing hits the floor broad. I just pulled in home one day when I heard the a noise, so I sat there listening for it and then the jack-in-the-box bags on the floor broad started moving WTF..??..So I reached down and grabbed one up and low and behold there's this little lizard staring back at me lol...Ready

They didn't even ask me for ID. I coulda been wearin a name tag that said Yusef and they woulda let me in that place. Well Mzhuny, you sure have some exciting times!
I remember one particular road trip when my kids were little. We were taking a back road thru the country side in the middle of a very, very hot summer and of course we ran into road construction and got stopped. Well, it was hot and stuffy in the car and the kids wanted to have the windows all the way down...until the aroma of the freshly manured fields blew by their little noses. The windows went up in a hurry, let me tell you! Well, I had bought these little pull down window shades - ya know the kind that have the little rubber things that you stick to the window to hold the shades in place. Well, my son decided he would stick one of those rubber thingys onto his forehead and be a rhino, so he licked it and stuck right there in the middle - between eyebrows right above his nose. We all laughed at him and he left it on. Well, we finally get to moving along the road again and my son falls asleep - with his "rhino horn" still in place. Almost 4 hours later we get to where we are headed and are gettin out of the car and I told him enough was enough with the rhino horn, time to take it off. Well, I almost died laughing when he pulled it off and was left with this large and very red raspberry mark what looked too much like a big target in the middle of his forehead! It took about 4 days for it to completely disappear and I figured he learned his lesson on that one!
Not so! About ten years later, while driving him and a van full of his soccer buddies to a tournament - he did the same damn thing and ended up with the same results! He's gonna be 23 tomorrow - I wonder if he's learned his lesson yet??

Hundreds of "Road Trip" stories. We used to call it "Sport Driving" and I was the driver. My nickname was "Superfoot" You can guess why. Just go til we used up half the money then head home. Made it from RI to S Carolina one time Straight through Turn around head back. And many many more. Different world we live in now though. Do half the stuff we did back then you would end up in jail. Not sure if it is any safer though. Thanks again for the brain stimulation.

Last time I went on the road with my sis-I swore-I would never do that again. She flicked a ciggie and it came back in the window while on the road and we were wobbly for a spell. Then, everything was at her convenience-since she drove-which meant-no one ate for hours(like 6 or more) because--she was gone with her fucking car.I swore to never, ever do that again-with anyone!(as u can see that really got to me-lol)

I love road trips.

I think maybe there are a couple lessons to be learned from your trip.
1.) Either don't smoke and if you do, always remember, cars are made with ashtrays for a reason.
2.) Learn from Texans. Ducks are a LOT smaller than emus.

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.

Worst road trip I've taken was to Atlanta. Got so damn lost in that city I thought I'd see the Atlantic Ocean over the next hill. Finally found the place I was looking for by accident. That city and its butt-to-butt burbs have entirely too many streets named "Peachtree" something or another.

Ahhh yes, the road trip, what fond memories it brings back! Let's see, let's tune in a little Willie....

On the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again,
And I can't wait to get on the road again.

On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again

Thanks Willie!

sexyroo (?) post about his kid and the "target"... i still can't stop laughing at THAT image

mzhuny... i love roadtrips. But ... isn't it that they say half the adventure is getting there. or it's all about the trip, not the destination?

One road trip, on our way to a camping event, myself, my b/f, and 0BlondeAdonis got stranded when the car broke down. On a weekend. Late at night. Got towed to the auto shop/car dealership. Spent the night in the parking lot. (The next day we were taken in by some friends till the car was fixed). This was 8 yrs ago or more.

My most interesting ones involve the Canadian border. Like my friend Reem and I drove to Montana for a night. My navigator mis-read the directions on the way out of town. Instead of "drive 1/2 mile, turn left, drive 187 miles" she read "Drive 187 miles". About 165 we stopped for gas. Then got back on the road, turned a corner, and ran into the border patrol. By that point it's too late to turn back. Imagine them asking "So, what are you coming to Canada for?" "Umm... we're not coming to Canada". "But you're IN Canada" "yes... we realize that. but we're not supposed to be." "Where are you going then?" "er... Washington". lol. that's not the worst. I did not have my birth certificate. She did not have her green card. They had to send us in to talk to immigrations. Our entry was denied else the US wouldn't have let us back in (or at least her). Then we had to go around to do it all over again on the US side. She got yelled at by the immigrations officer. Though he was nice enough to look up and verify her green card number on the computer (she did have it written down), rather than arresting and deporting her. Then he gave us a map and directions back to where we should have been.

Our next trip to Canada was nice (and intentional). But she bought some green tea from china town. It was loose, wrapped up in a plastic bag, in the trunk of the car. Naturally I wound up in the one lane that was checking EVERY car. They ended up taking the green weeds out of the trunk and consulting before somebody told them they were idiots and put it back and let us go. (at least that was the impression i got from their actions. couldn't hear what was going on).

I've also heard it said... if SOMEthing doesn't happen on your trip... you're not really going anywhere.

Anyways as far as me, and roadtrips. Mine have been smooth compared to this. I don't go anywhere I don't know, cause thats how I am, I go to Cheyenne, Denver, and the Rocky Mountains, and a handful of farm towns. Ah yes.... Road trips are fun...and blow as all at the same time.... I will give ya the top 2...
1. 1995... My then best friend her boyfriend and the now ex were in my MINT condition 1987 Jeep Cherokee and on our way to a church retreat..... So we see two paths... one for smaller cars and no line... And one for my size cars....line is backed up to freeway.... So being the time saving person I am I opted for the side with no line... What we didnt know was there was just a a big hunk of concrete laying on top of wires...and that it was a drive at your own risk deal... So we get up on it with four people in the starts swaying and making a cracking noise.... My bud Greg leaned out the window..and said...hey its like a 60 foot drop into the waterfall from here...and then he told me to stop the car... We hear more ctracking....he it in reverse and fly this botch off here...NOW! So I put it in reverse and flew off an embankment about 15 feet or so and tore the 4 wheel drive outta my car.... That's when the "bridge" fell... We were so lucky....

The second one I did the same thing twice two years in a row...
2. 1996 road trip to Oklahoma city... We went to the Frontier City and the water park... Left town at 9 p.m. Simple thing right? No..not when you just smoked a blunt.... i followed the signs for HOURS... Nothing looked even remotely familiar... So we finally pulled into a Luv's... my friend started laughing and handed me a KANSAS souveneir... We were in WICHITA KANSAS.... Not WICHITA FALLS TX.... The lady took a pciture of us and hung it up as "accidental tourists".... The next year we did it again... i stopped smoking after that...ha ha ha

So.. Now you can all laugh at my silly ass.... I still do..
