A fantasy

One fantasy

I often have a hard time
living in this world,
inhabiting a human body.
Yes I chose to come here,
knowing the sun would grow hotter,
and the air even less clean.

I left the Summerland this time
to learn about human love.
The lesson was one of great joy
And of an equally great pain.
I did not expect the hunger
That lingers even now.

There was no protection
from the ever deadlier elements,
as the insanity melted layers.
And the diseases increased.
No protection from death
Or a love that’s run its course.

And I did not understand
how so many laugh at others
who might be different,
as I truly was;
They do not seem to know
Judgment only leads to inner shame.

At night I dance to ease the pain,
imagining another world.
with air and water clean.
And all peoples as friends,
laughing and holding hands
in peace and joy unhampered..

Now I am fading away.
because I learned to love
and then experienced loss,
I need the room to dance my life
And the freedom to fly,
But I’ll always carry the pain.
