Movie Review: Eight Below

Disney has produced this movie based on true stories from Antarctica. About the sled dogs and the men who worked with them.

Very adult themes regarding loss, death, hardship, survival, being true to yourself and love. I don't know how many questions kids would have about this film, but I would guess, parents would have some explaining to do for the younger kids.

I must have had some real pent up emotions, because I was crying through almost half the movie!! Thank goodness I had not seen this in the theaters with a date!! After the dogs are left behind, it was over for me. Just an emotional roller coaster until the end. That is for me. I have almost more room in my heart reserved for animals than my fellow humans.

Very, very well filmed and performed. The dogs were amazing. So much open scenery. Just beautiful, at the same time, and completely unforgiving.

I would give this film 4.5 out of 5. The half point deduction for making me crying!

See you at the DVD rack!

Thanks for the review. Now I know I won't be going to see it. I'd be bawling....

I, too, have more of an affinity for animals than I do for humans.

Don't get me wrong. The movie is good, but the drama!! Oh, I really was caught off guard!!

Yea, like kids - animals are just 100 percent honest!!

Yea, I am not going to the movie theaters much anymore. Just too expensive. It makes so much more sense to just buy the DVD when it comes out!

Oh, I know.

Too true babe...i must have broke down sobbing about 10 times...just about fell off the couch when the seal came barreling out of the orca...

I had heard it was a good movie but i wan't at all prepared for just how good it was going to be....

i've watched it twice already...

Oh, yea! The leopard seal. (more 'leopard' than seal!) I had a feeling with that scene.

I need to watch it again some time. Maybe while I am doing house work. So that I am only HALF paying attention, and not so focused!!

Thanks for the comment.
