The Bird Feeder - - Revisited

I had mentioned in yesterday's post that I toss sunflower seeds on my deck for the birds.

I used to have several bird feeders containing different types of bird food.

Well that worked out well in good until a big masked furry creature decided to raid the feeders at night.

This creature's view of raiding is first to destroy the apparatus that contained the birdseed and then to get what's inside.

Now I put just enough birdseed out for the birds so that there is nothing left for the masked avenger.

Does anyone know of any good stew recipes?

Those little critters are interesting in themselves. Too bad that they can get so aggressive and distructive.

And they look so cute. I never knew that they could be so aggressive.

Would that be bird stew or 'coon stew?? (just kidding)

I do understand though... I have a neighbor that thought it was fun to feed the 'coons, until they started coming in the cat-door. I was over there once when one of the raccoons just came in his house and jumped up on a counter. That was scary ‒ we couldn’t move till the raccoon had left. Now his cat-door is locked and he can only feed his cats when he is home. He had no idea how wild and aggressive the ‘coons could get. I am an animal lover too, but most of my place is fenced and the dogs keep the ‘coons and deer out the yard. I love watching the birds though, and I have 4 feeders……. Out in the yard I put two 4x4x8 ft. posts 2 ft. down in the ground with a 5 ft 2x4 nailed on the top ‒ like a T. I hang the feeders off the ends and even before the dogs, I didn’t have trouble with the raccoons getting into the feeders. Where were you putting your feeders?
