Physical pleasure is a sensual experience

“Physical pleasure is a sensual experience
no different from pure seeing
or the pure sensation with which a fine fruit fills the tongue;
it is a great unending experience,
which is given us, a knowing of the world,
the fullness and the glory of all knowing.
And not our acceptance of it is bad;
the bad thing is that most people
misuse and squander this experience
and apply it as a stimulant
at the tired spots of their lives
and as distraction
instead of a rallying toward exalted moments.”

~Rainer Maria Rilke

(Austro-German lyric poet, author -1875-1926)

Thank you for posting Rilke! I love what we stumble across in Blogland!

May I add?

"For it is not only indolence that causes human relationships to be repeated from case to case with such unspeakable monotony and boredom; it is timidity before any new, inconceivable experience, which we don't think we can deal with. But only someone who is ready for everything, who doesn't exclude any experience, even the most incomprehensible, will live the relationship with another person as something alive and will himself sound the depths of his own being."

and simply...

"Resolve to be always beginning -to be a beginner!"

both from Letters to a Young Poet, Rilke

Thank you, lovelylady!!

Nice Lovin_U_4_Fun
Thank you!

The first Rilke I ran into is sad, but there is just something about
the way he put his words together...
