EAST BEATS WEST

DAWN GETS PEACE RIGHT OUT OF THE WAY!

Here we are in the fledgling dawn of a new millenium, living in a republic just approaching the tender age of 230 years. Now in dog-years this might seem like an eternity, but in nation-years it's more like about nine generations.

Meanwhile on the other side of the globe, an economic juggernaut is preparing itself to conquer the world. Their nation is over 3,000 years old, and has survived every invasion and ocupation ever launched against it. These people even threatened the very existence of Western Civilization nearly a thousand years ago, when their Mongolian Emporer carved a 6,000 mile path of carnage across Asia and Europe.

Who am I talking about?...That would be CHINA.

BIGGER IS BETTER!

Home to almost 2 billion people, and endowed with the unprecedented economic security of a government that saves and invests almost 50% of it's gross national product every year, China is the economic powerhouse that noone is talking about.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?

Since Congress decided to look the other way after the senseless slaughter of democratic activists in Tiennamen Square (remember the tanks running over the students?), our wink-wink nudge-nudge economic relations with the brutal communist government there has fueled a ballooning trade deficit of more than $162 billion each year!

And each and every dollar spent on a product made in China, not only reduces the amount of money circularing in the American economy, but BETWEEN 25% AND 40% of that money actually ends up financing the expansion of the Chinese military.

All manufacturing operations in China, whether it's stuff destined for the shelves of Wal-Mart(which just happens to be China's largest, private trading partner), or those darling little toys in your McHappy Meals, is controlled by the Chinese military. These are the same gentle souls responsible for the 40 million civilians massacred during the reign of terror termed the "cultural revolution".

Some of these factories are even staffed by prisoners of the state, unfortunately there's just no way of telling which products are made by exploited Chinese peasants for a shit wage, or which ones are produced by democratic activists imprisoned for life because they questioned their government's policies.

HOW MUCH MORE CAN WE AFFORD?

So, like we're over 7.5 trillion dollars in debt at this point. Read: $7,500,000,000,000.000
To pay off that much debt in one year, you would have to come up with nearly $240,000 EACH AND EVERY SECOND! Try to grasp the fact the in the time it took you to read this sentence, you would have had to scrape up another $4 million. See how it adds up? And that doesn't even begin to address the interest rates charged on our pricinpal!

CHINA BUYS OUR DEBT DAILY

China invest over $1 billion in U.S. Treasury Bonds every day! And on top of that, the Chinese control the value of their own currency in relation to the dollar, as there are no private exchange rates allowed inside their country. In addition, our national debt grows at a rate of nearly $2 billion each and every day! So- that makes China our number one growth creditor, and in complete control of their own currency and economy!

WHAT'S THE GOOD NEWS?

You and every other American consumer have a choice. We can make ourselves and other aware of what our dollars buy. If you want to support the military of a government which throws people into prison for practicing their religion, and forces them to make crappy, cheap, promotional products for likes of Sharper Image magazine, then you just keep on buying those Chinese-made goods.

Personally, I'll keep browsing the aisles for similar goods made elsewhere, and locate previously-owned goods in second-hand stores. You see, I'm not all that into supporting the descendants of those vicious Mongol hordes.

p.s.- Russia and China have also begun to conduct joint air, land, and sea military exercises FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD. Keep your fingers crossed.
