The final straw

Last Friday Jack Straw the UK Foriegn Minister (equiv. Secretary of State) was "promoted" in the cabinet blood bath that followed Labours disastrous results in the UK's "local elections".

As everyone, apart from Tony Blair, has been saying it was a big demotion and was all becuase Straw had pissed off Bush and his guys by saying that military action against Iran was inconceivable.

Tony Blair says nothing will change with Mrs Beckett now in charge of the Foriegn Office.

So what happens a few days later, with this big meeting on Iran taking place in New York, to quote the beeb;

"She refused to repeat her predecessor Jack Straw's insistence that military action against Iran was inconceivable.

Mrs Beckett said she preferred to make clear that no-one was discussing military action, and that language was far more welcome to the Americans."

48hrs and to me thats an awfull big change.

Ever since he became GW's poodle Tony Blair has been a liability, now as he tries desperately to cling on to power he is getting really dangerous. He needs to go and soon... maybe the October Labour party conference will be the end if we are lucky... lets hope we are not at war with Iran by then.

Yes, he keeps saying how he is going to start listening to people but it never happens.

The worst thing about Blair in recent years has been how he has turned the Prime Minister role into a Presidential one. He feels he can make decisions on his own and do whatever he personally feels is "good for us" and forgets that a Prime Minister is very very different from a President.
