a mothers day gift from my youngest

The other day I was going thru pictures in my "treasure" box, where not only do I keep pictures, but also keep things my children & other "loved" ones have given me that have special value to my heart. I found a poem my youngest gave me 2 years ago on mothers day. When I received it from him, I thought it was beautiful, even though I didn't fully understand what he was trying to say to me thru the poem.

Now that my life has changed...and things have played out as they have, when I re-read that poem he gave me I truly came to appreciate how "out of the mouth of babes" comes the truth. HE saw the "world" I was living in...in his poem he was trying to tell me to find myself, to free myself from a life I was limiting myself to.

I'd like to share the poem he wrote me......both my children are so amazing I'm so priviledged to have them as mine.....

"Son to Mother"

Mom, I can tell you,
You can't be controlled forever in a cell.
Do what you like,
Get what you want,
Don't be like I used to be.

I kept serving,
Getting nothing back.
Not appreciated
Get out of that cell.
Be free!
Live your life,
Don't be a servant or slave,
Don't be like I used to be.
