Songs and Memories

Certain songs or albums tend to evoke strong memories. The first time you made love, a special moment, break up, times of despair, thoughts of joy, and other feelings.

Is there a song that reminds you of the first time you made love? Not the first time you had sex, but the first time you actually made love to that special someone with whom you thought it would never end?

And when you hear the song(s) today, do you close your eyes and remember every little detail? Every kiss? Every caress? That tremendous outpouring of the heart? The shared ecstasy?

Or does the music make you sad? Recalling the heart break when the relationship ended with a fight, or a betrayal?

Most likely, it’s a combination of both. Mine certainly is. My first lover and I had been infatuated with each other off and on since eighth grade. Her name was Crystal. We began ‘going steady’ while we were sophomores in high school. Holding hands and kissing at school dances. Petting and heavy necking when we had moments alone at parties.

And early in our junior year, I finally turned 16, got my license, and a car. It was a four-door Dodge Monaco with a Jensen stereo system, and a huge back seat. We had been steady for 10 months now. We were in love, and going farther and farther with our passions as clothes would allow.

Then one night, out on county line road, with our favorite 8-track playing, in the back seat, it happened. The clothes melted away, and I began to explore every inch of her body. Her neck and shoulders with my lips, the small of her back with my fingertips. Caressing the swell of her firm breasts, teasing her hard nipples with my tongue. Then kissing my way down her stomach, and further still. Her body tensing as I slid her panties down her legs, kissing her inner thighs.

And between her thighs, nirvana! That heady fragrance only hinted at before. Her taste, beyond honey. And in the moonlight, I watched her as I rolled her clit with the back of my tongue. The heaving of her breasts, the desire on her face. She was so beautiful! And I was so lost in her passion, and in what I was doing to her, for her. And then too soon came the quickening of her body, the tensing of the stomach, the grip of her thighs, and the final crescendo of her first orgasm. Then afterwards, I just held her, tightly, while she regained her breath. And it felt so wonderful, and so right, with her head on my chest, with her whispering ‘I love you’ over and over.

And the 8-track started again for what? The fourth time? Panic! We’re late! The mad rush of dressing. Quickly to her home. Her parents not amused. A feeble excuse. A stern rebuke.

I left, my balls hurting like hell since I hadn’t cum, for there was no reciprocation, no intercourse. Those would happen later. But it didn’t matter. It was such a rush. My first true love. And when I got home, before I turned off the car, I reached over and ejected the 8-track that would become our anthem. Leftoverature, by Kansas.

Gotta love innocent lust in the Midwest. Those hedgerows, those cornfields. I lost my virginity on June 5, 1976 at 11:47pm (curfew was midnight). This guy who every girl in town drooled over was from a neighboring town. He had that Kurt Cobain constantly stoned look. Not a bad kisser but man, did this guy have the cars. At one time he drove a 57 Nomad with red metal flake paint. Well this particular night he had his 67 Chevelle, 350 with oversized cam, hoodscoop, Widetrack 60's and 70's on Cragar S/S's, Hurst 4-speed, 4-11 posi traction and multicolor fishscale paint design. Oh, yeah, we were out in a blanket in the cornfield least we mess up the car ( rolls eyes ) and it lasted all of about 3 minutes.

Damn I miss that car.

Oh and the music he had playing was Head East "Never Been Any Reason"

One of my all time favorite 'power' songs! And tales to tell.
