Gone next week

I don't know how much time I'll have for blogging next week. I'm flying to Louisville Sunday and will be working out of the office there next week.

One of my closest friends is getting married next Saturday, and I'm the maid of honor.

The guy she's marrying seems to be really nice, and she says he's really good to her and her two daughters.

She deserves all the happiness in the world. If you have read my post on abuse, her ex-husband was one of my ex-husband's law partners. Her marriage was as weird as mine was, and she got absolutely hosed in her divorce. When she heard I'd left my husband, she came to me and said that she would testify for me, corroborate my allegations. I know it was hard for her. She stayed silent during her own divorce, trying to save her daughters from the scandal.

But she is such a sweet, kind person, that though she didn't stand up for herself, she stood up for someone else. She has become one of my closest friends, and I would do anything for her. Anything. I owe her more than I could ever repay.

So, on Saturday, drink a toast to Lxxxxx, and smile for her. And pray that it doesn't rain in Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.

And pray that the best man is hunky and single ...

What's the best wedding you ever attended?

What's the funniest wedding you ever attended?

What's the worst disaster of a wedding you ever attended?

Hmm have not been to a wedding in ages. Although I have designed invitations to some of Tampa's elite in recent months.
But the funniest and best wedding I ever attended was one in the same. It was some rodeo friends of mine from back when I was riding. They got married on horseback and all their attendants rode horses. She wore a traditional white wedding gown and rode side saddle only something went horribly wrong as the couple made their victory gallop after the ceremony and she went flying thru the air and landed in some fresh horse poop. So much for a white dress.
I will keep my fingers and pubs crossed for you and hope the best man is a hottie. Don't forget we want details when you come back. Oh and check your hoo mail too I drew you something.

Juicy

Kelli ... it's nice to hear stories of friendships that have been tried and tested and have thrived ... awesome. Good luck to her and have fun at the wedding. (Funny ... I'll be in Louisville on Friday next week)
What's the best wedding you ever attended? Mine

What's the funniest wedding you ever attended? My cousin's ... we were all really hung-over (I'm sure that had something to do with it) and he passed out in the middle of the ceremony. I guess he was out for about a minute or less but while he was out he let 3-4 of the biggest farts that you've ever heard ... I don't think there was a dry eye in the room ... LOL.

What's the worst disaster of a wedding you ever attended? I've never attended a memorably disasterous wedding ... just the divorces that have followed

I wish for her and for you all the happiness in the world you both may grab into your heart. To survive what you both went through, and for her to further suffer in silence to spare her children, she is one helluva strong woman. Congrats to her...I hope you have a blast. T

Love to here friend stories! IT's great to have friends that care for you and that you care for like that.

What's the best wedding you ever attended? I was best man at my friends wedding last Sept in Turks and Caicos. On a pier, beautiful azure water in the background onlyclose friends around.....mmmm if I ever get married again, that's the way I'd do it!

What's the funniest wedding you ever attended? Any marriage of people under the age of 25! All I can think about is what the f... are they doing so young!

What's the worst disaster of a wedding you ever attended? A friend of my ex's was getting married, her brother-in-law-to-be brought a prostitute as his date (it was blatant!)

Have a great time and do take good care of the best man!

Kells, I'll be thinking of ya and hope you catch the bloody blooming bouquet...but to answer your questions immediately and without thought, I thought I should answer the following, perhaps slighty-tongue-in-cheek...

What's the best wedding you ever attended? My own! I spent most of a year organising it and still managed to overlook some things or get it botched up. I was "bridezilla" for most of the day, though! Then I had to realise that it really didn't matter, but oh, how I would have done things differently now, but in spite of it all and even knowing what I know now, I don't regret marrying my husband for one day!!!

What's the funniest wedding you ever attended? Not mine, probably the last one I attended where the groom's brother was best man and he was oh so honest and candid about his childhood and other escapes! Also, they hired a magician for the floor show, which was really neat.

What's the worst disaster of a wedding you ever attended? Well, not my own, but in retrospect, it appears that way....

I always wanted to go to a wedding that when the preacher says does anyone object to this union...that somebody actually says something lol I know that sounds terrible but 99% of these people should not be getting married anyway they always wind up in divorce and then they come to our office to get out of it....I work for a divorce atty. Hugs, Jazz

Mine was one for the ages. 13 years later they still talk about it. Who would of thunk I would be where I am now in life?? (insert guarded smile)

Best of luck to your friend, always good to take a "mulligan" and make the next shot your best.

totally worn out and screaming
"WOO HOO what a ride!" Have a wonderful day!

Hey Kelli,

Have FUN!!!! Keep friends like that; they don't come around often enough. It is amazing how some people can be a pillar of strength for another, but get steamrolled on their own.

As to your questions...

Best wedding...a couple friends from Canoe U at the chapel in Annapolis...talk about something rich with tradition

Funniest...Cowboy wedding up in Gypsum, CO...One thing after another was fun and some was hilarious...the toast of one Cowboy to the groom (this is something I will NEVER forget), "Here's to Honor...Git on 'er and stay on 'er!"

Worst Disaster...probably my own...anything that could happen did...no wonder it was doomed; the first day was a mess.

Kris...

PS I remember a post of yours a long time ago complaining about never seeing yourself in the scroll bar at the top of the page...it was here when I "dropped in" this morning.

What's the funniest wedding you ever attended?
A friend's... all our guy friends got rip-raoring drunk and had a danceoff.

What's the worst disaster of a wedding you ever attended?
Can't say I've been to any disasters of weddings... YET.
Have fun!

Have a safe trip and great time...

Best wedding I've ever attended? Actually, mine was awesome. Think so, even today...after the divorce.

Funniest wedding I've ever attended? My uncle's... took place in someone's backyard. It was a redneck event! Something to see.

Hunk and single best man....ironic...I'm the best man. See you at the wedding

The BEST, absolutely was a Greek orthodox wedding. Some pranksters (not me) wrote "help me" on the bottom of the shoes of the groom. So when he kneeled for the vows...bingo. The crowd went wild. I have also seen a biker type guy with tattoo's and handle bar mustache when getting married blubber so much with tears of happiness that he could barely get the words out. Naturally the sighs from the ladies was audible outside the wedding party. Weddings come in phases. The youthful ones when everybody's starting out. The late bloomers, professionals mid 30's. Then the second time around...40 somethings. Whats the next stage.... nieces nephews and then your kids!!!

What's the best wedding you ever attended? Attended one in upstate NY in March - I danced outside while it was snowing and got drunk on white Zin - VERY FUN time!

What's the funniest wedding you ever attended? Also the same above - after the ceremony and dinner and before the dancing the brother of the groom created a video montage of the bride and groom growing up together, funny pictures and the Conan O'Brien idea of "what if they had children" - laughed my butt off!

What's the worst disaster of a wedding you ever attended? My second wedding - no comments need to be added here

Thanks for the post Kel and have FUN but hurry back!

What's the best wedding you ever attended?
has to be my daughter's wedding...hands down

What's the funniest wedding you ever attended?
a wedding between two clones...one was of Kenny Rogers and one was of Linda Ronstadt...long story there...everyone was wrapped in bandages and well...ya just had to be there...

What's the worst disaster of a wedding you ever attended?
The maid of honor fainted and fell on the floor in
the middle of the ceremony

Just a little food for thought.............
If you really want to be happy, nobody can stop you...

Dont stay away for too long.

Please excuse my use of your comment space for this....Dusty Widget has been wrongly accused in many blogs as the perpetrator of the cruel and heartless cliticals scam.

But the bloke who writes economickrisis is the rotten evil scoundrel who created TheCliticals in order to take the piss out of Blogsville. Do not enter unless you are armed with a sense of humor.

As I suspected. It was fairly obvious from "their" last email it was a man. Do we get to meet him? Or do we continue to get George Cloony and Crocodile Dundee? I have enough schizos in real life. I would prefer a stable personality if I'm going to establish a relationship with someone ... even if it's an AdultFriendFinder-fantasy-blog relationship like I had with the Clits. economickrisis is toooo allovertheplace. I'm fickle. Sue me. Or spend $12.95 and send me an email.
