Drivel to Piss off Jealous Bitches

It seems that this friendly site has cycles. Months ago, I remember a tempest in a teapot when people were upset at the way the "top bloggers" list was calculated. It was changed, and the list changed.

Lately, there seems to be a new set of bloggers who feel that God has appointed them as critics of blog contents. They seem to think that they have the right to critique what people write, and to throw stones at the bloggers at the top of the list.

I expressed my feelings a few months ago, "The List" LOL!!!. I haven't changed those feelings. I come here to read the blogs, and sometimes I write something or share a joke that I liked. I have often called what I write here drivel. If people want to read it, and they enjoy it, I'm glad. If they don't, that's ok, too. There's too many bloggers here to keep up with them all, and we all make choices on what we read.

As I said, in the past week, at least two different bloggers have felt it their civic duty to launch hostile, jealous attacks at other bloggers. Both of these people seem to think they have the right to declare who is a "real blogger" and who is not. One of these people has only been blogging here for 3 weeks, and I guess she's pissed because no one has crowned her queen. Either that, or it's a new profile for an old blogger with an axe to grind. The other person is such a pathetic failure as a human being that the hostility is to be expected.

I don't know what these people expect on this site. One of the things they teach in journalism school, is to write for your audience. I don't expect the same topics from Playboy and the Wall Street Journal. This is a play site, a site for sex, erotica, emotions. Sometimes it gets serious, and some people get very philosophical or get into politics. That's ok, that's what they want to do, and I do that sometimes.

But something I learned, was that some of the topics I chose to post here didn't get much readership. The posts I made during my trip to Russia were pieces I worked on very hard, but very few people read them, and almost no one commented. This wasn't the site for that topic.

So, I post most of my political and philosophical stuff elsewhere, for different audiences. Do I pander to my audience with my posts? Of course I do. Some of my posts, no, they were written for me, and for my close friends, and I don't expect to see lots of comments. But for the rest? Why would I post things that no one wanted to read?

So, for those who are bitter, jealous, and think they have some sort of god-given right to trash other people, I have one thing to say ...
.

I just love when some new person bitches about not getting any exposure. There's a little secret...go out and read and comment on other people's blogs and they'll read yours. It's easier for them to bitch though. I'm just glad you didn't link to their names.

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.

rm_kelli4u2dew replies on 7/18/2006 11:38 pm:
Why would I give such a bitter person exposure? I think it's rather classless to post a whole bunch of names, like she did, and say their blogs are crap. Life is too short ...

Dropping a response first before I read the other responses...

The good thing about trying to sit in judgement of others here. It's easy to ignore assholes, unless they develop a following. I hadn't thought about one of the "newbies" bieng a phoenix.... interesting (and worthwhile) thought.

I read through your Russia trip stuff and found it fascinating, but it was well after their publication, and I didn't see much point commenting on old material. It's really good to have it archived, though. I know I've read through several archives in an attempt to get to know the person better.

Sometimes the most interesting and well written stuff is also hard to comment on, as well, and other than the guys who are just going to come on to you just to get some attention back, I suppose we ought to look out for things that deserve "attaboys" more often.

I know that most of the things I've published that I've been most proud of have drawn virtually no response--except that I do now seem to have a regular readership that checks in, if not every day, then every second or third day to see what I'm up to now. That's very gratifying, even if they aren't leaving comments.

I post what I want to say. If no one wants to read it, ok, but meanwhile I think I'm learning more about how to communicate and how to establish my own "voice". (At least I think that's what I'm doing--I'm so busy being me that I can's recognize myself in other things.)

rm_kelli4u2dew replies on 7/19/2006 7:19 am:
I always tell people that the more important statistic is the number of views, not comments. That tells you what your true readership is. Not everyone is into the interactive nature of the blogs. I get at least one or two private emails a week generated by my posts or comments from people who never comment. And some posts just don't lend themselves to comments.

Hugs.

I don't know who it is, but it reminds me of the quote I read in one bloggers blog title that says the quickest way to become famous is to piss off a famous person...
sounds like someone decided to try it...
Good that you didn't "shame the devil"... the way I see it, the quickest way to piss off a pissed off upstart is to not leave a comment

I don't think trashing someone else is a very mature or productive use of time. The person who spent so much time being a prick last week got a huge number of comments. I don't think we need to make a habit of rewarding something we don't like. {=}

I was wondering why I didn't remember the Russia posts... turns out they were in the period of my absence from the blogs. It's one of my favorite countries I love to read and learn about! You did a fantastic job writing about the trip, and I'm sorry more people couldn't appreciate the work you put into it! {=}

Kelli you seem to have been reading my mind with this post which btw is a dangerous thing to do lol. I was just thinking about posting something similar today on my blog. But I agree with you 100%. I don't have a very popular blog and to be honest with you I really don't care. I write it for me, it is my journal as I am too lazy or too spoiled now with computers, etc. to write in my paper journal. I think that I have some nice posts, I ask questions, tell stories about something that might have happened around my area, little antidotes that I find on this site, etc. and I rarely get any comments or views but I do have a little loyal following which I think is great. Yes you are right there are a lot of blogs on this site and one cannot view them all. I use to have this one blog on my watch list and recently I removed it. This person has a very popular blog here on AdultFriendFinder but lately her posts make no sense at least not to me. Perfect example is a few wks ago she wrote a post and all it said was "Stop the insanity" that's all and she received like 110 comments for that post! WTF? She is a popular blogger although I am beginning to wonder why. I like your blog, if I didn't I would not read it and have you on my watch list. I enjoy reading blogs that give me some insight as to the person behind the blog. There are so many good blogs out there that get overlooked because people are so into the "popularity thing." Hell, I thought I left high school behind me 30 yrs ago apparently not. Sorry to ramble, but you really hit a nerve with me on this one. Great post. Hugs, Jazz

Opinions are like***(insert appropriate remark here). It seems blog-land is filled with all sorts. I am a voracious reader. I have been doing this for a short time, and i like to post a muse now and again. We can't seem to avoid hateful people. I live by a philosophy of putting those kind of things on ignore, and strangely find humor at those types of people. In regards to Russia, my mother and i are 5th and 6th generation Pushkin. Nice post Kelli. I am also one of those bloggers that does not have a huge following, and although I would like more readers, I do not post daily, and I do not post items that require a lot of intense thought or philosophical reflection. I post daily happenings in my life, thoughts going thorugh my head, or sometimes I just post lyrics to a song that I like. My blog is for me, and if people read it, then all the better. I have a short list of people I watch (you included) and those people are either friends of mine that I have met in person here in the Tampa Bay area or people that I just like to read because I like what they have to say. I dont get involved in popularity contests, and I could care less if anyone else does.

having been up and down the popular list a few times, i view criticisms of top bloggers very dimly -- even the ones i don't like. it is a lot of work to get up there in the rankings, and a lot of work to stay there -- and it is a gift to be able to keep producing stuff your audience enjoys. i used to have the energy for it and i don't anymore; i like the less pressured position i've put myself in now, but i also know that at a later date (maybe when life is less busy and i'm not pregnant) i may well aim for the top again ... there is nothing wrong with that aim and there is nothing wrong with achieving it. top bloggers are top bloggers because they've won an audience and managed to keep it. dissing the top bloggers is basically the same as dissing their entire audience and calling them fools for reading those blogs.

as one of your regular readers, there are some types of posts you do that i prefer over others and you'll get more response from me on those (actually dunno what's going on lately, having a lot of difficulty responding to ANY posts) ... but ultimately, what i also like on the blogs is the variety. sometimes it's personal and intimate, sometimes it's silly, sometimes it's hot, etc.

most of the top bloggers have been around for a while and stuck at it, often day-in day-out. some people just can't give credit where credit is due, cos they can't get out of whiney victim mode and maybe can't accept that THEIR blogs aren't that good!

Yeah, there's days when I barely have the energy to read, let alone comment or post. And I like some of my posts better than others, too. I'm not terribly consistent, and I don't really plan on what I write. Being on "the list" has never been terribly important to me, but it is nice to know that people read what I write.

Hugs.

Frankly I don't take any of it too seriously. I am new here but I don't slam anyone. You don't have to be a journalist to see that bashers only bash because they don't have anything original to say. I post what I feel and how I think. If others read fine, if not so what. I don't post to please and audience. I will agree that you have to consider the forum that you are posting on to determine the topic, but outside of that; what I or anyone post is just an opinion. Even the fricking bashers. It does show a lot of class not naming the bashers. I would have been tempted.

This was perfect! AND just how I feel about things here.
I write for the entertainment, the reader and enjoy the different venues that are here to draw on.
Who gives a crap about LISTS? Only sad people with no lives need that attention, please.
I started here with nothing, not a freaking clue about the blogs or what I would or would not write.
I was excited if anyone read my stories. I was totally elated when people actually commented and urged me on to write more and I discovered that this was FUN! I hope to find the FUN again here

Aside from the petty games of "jealously" and the occasional "stalker", it's not a bad place to lose one's ... inhibitions in writing, heh?

Hey Beautiful

I write for many reasons.... some for others enjoyment but if I am not enjoying writing it I won't even do that... I also write to help me think things through and some of the comments/advice I have gotten has truly been PRICELESS!!

I seldom write anything political here and am not sure any of my shit could be called "philisophical"!! LOL I also would never attack someone else as I just don't have the time or interest... Life is just tooo fucking short to go through it only looking for the negatives!! if I don't like what someone writes it is just a click and AWAY I go!

As you know... I have been on the top of the dreaded male bloggers list and essentially took myself out of it by deleting a bunch of posts... and although the recognition was flattering... (I certainly had more views/comments then) but honestly I still have the readers that truly mean something to me!! I care very deeply about these people I have come to know and call friends here!!

Bottom line.... I could give 2 shits about the list! As you said so much more eloquently.... if they like what drivel I write fine... if not.. read someone else!

ps.... I also loved your Russia posts.... it has long fastenated me as well!! I loved seeing it all through your eyes! And I loved that you are such a strong and adventurous woman as to go off and experience something like most of us NEVER will!!! THANK YOU for letting us live vicariously through you!!!

And so I IGNORE the nay sayers...

Very well said Kelli, you go girl! I don't get the point of bitching about the top bloggers and who's on the list and how they got there. Who cares? It's obvious that they are there because people put them there by reading and commenting and enjoying what they write. I love to read a lot of the top bloggers for those reasons, not because oooh, they're the popular blogs... come on now, we aren't in high school! I blog because I have something to say, usually it's lighthearted, perverted, funny but sometimes it's serious and it doesn't matter how many people read it or comment on it, I'm just happy it's in virtual print I do love the interactions with others that result from my blogs and that's a big part of what makes it fun so of course I'd be sad if no one came to my blog to play with me, but getting comments and being on the list isn't my driving purpose behind blogging. As always when this shit comes up I'm reminded of a favorite quote: "Do what you want to do because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter." Blog on baby!

I find it fascinating how important people make this blogging fad. It is also interesting that the very thing that many bitch about are the same things thay have done. That typically what we don't like in others, and those we point fingers at contain the same traits we don't like in ourselves. Some should take more time to look in the mirror and their own actions and less time looking outward at others.

None of us got hooked by coming here and searching out the most obscure abandoned blog on the site. The marketing value of listing those who are most read is obvious. Does that make them the best writers, or their blogs the best or most entertaining? Of course not, but it's a safe bet that someone will find something they like out of 20+ different popular blogs.

And exactly how is what I've done similar to someone who: doesn't know me, that I can find no evidence that they've ever visited my blog, let alone read it, calling what I write crap, and saying I have no right to be here? I haven't named this person, as she most pointedly did me. I haven't said that she shouldn't blog, or that no one should read her. I haven't used terms such as "rancid" and "whiner" to describe her as she did another blogger.

Do you know me? Have you read anything else I've written? Or are you another newbie who feels that some higher power has appointed you a critic?

Honey, I have no problem asking for help if I need it. I certainly don't need your pop psychology to know my faults and foibles.

I very rarely ban anyone. My rules are posted at the top of my blog. I also do not name people in my posts, except in a positive way. I do take exception to people who feel they can rip me by name on their blogs, where they control the discussion ... or in this case doesn't seem interested in a discussion, just making venomous attacks.

I happen to agree with you here. My blogs (on this and other sites) are merely a way for me to express the various thoughts that ramble around in my head all day. If people want to read it, okay, if they don't, that's okay too. I just like having a means to express my daydreams/rants/strange questions.

And I'm a little tired of the bitterness over the list. The majority of the bloggers there are AWESOME writers, and have been blogging for a while. They have had time (and they have the talent) to build up their readership. Plus, I'm always amazed at how much some of the bloggers on the list support all the other blogs...look at their comment numbers...they aren't just here to get on a list, they enjoy what they are doing and support others in that enjoyment.

I agree. In my experience, the "top bloggers" here spend a lot of time encouraging others, reading new bloggers. I didn't get a watch list that goes to the 4th page just so I could leave comments and build my readership. There are amazing people here, amazing writers. I meet new people on here every time I log on. Some of my favorites haven't been here very long. People who see some kind of conspiracy on "the list" have problems that this site isn't going to cure.

Hugs, sis. Thanks for stopping by.

Re-read your writings from the very begining as I have, It's all there. Have you forgotten? I think your arrogance masks your own faults and foibles, spending so much time condeming others whether you name them or not, and not looking at yourself. Then being applauded by sad, pathetic men that are trying to gain a moment of attention from you, any moment at all.

It seems that the very people you complain about have given you more attention than you deserve by complaining about you in their blogs. Why not be the better person and take the "high" road and ignore them if indeed your blog stands alone.

Did your blog not get shut down once a while back for posting the names/handles of men that sent you emails? This is the only reason you don't do it anymore.

Darling, I've been here since December, I only started commenting recently.

rm_kelli4u2dew replies on 7/19/2006 9:41 pm:
Ok, jackass, gloves off.

First, I was banned three times because jealous people complained about my profile, where I simply asked that people who rode motorcycles or were lawyers not write me. When I took that out, the complaints of my "spamming" stopped (though no one explained how a standard member could spam people). Try getting your facts straight. I have never posted the names of the idiots who can't read and send me offensive emails. And I wasn't the one who solicited knuckledraggers to write me. I just got fed up with it.

My arrogance? Who the hell do you think you are? You come into my space and start telling me that you don't approve of me? What the hell makes you think I need the approval of a pathetic little man like you? Who are you to decide how much attention I, or anyone else, deserves? Arrogance? It seems that you have a rather large allotment of that.

You read 132 posts in the past couple of hours? And all the comments and responses? My, you are an industrious little weasel. And your purpose for doing so? Your purpose for coming into my blog and attacking me? Have you been watching me for months, one of the lurkers afraid to say hello to a woman and hating her for your inadequacies?

You don't know me. I wonder if you know any real women. Can you form a relationship with anyone who does not bow down and kiss your ring? You're so damn superior, I wonder if anyone but a trophy with no personality would fit your lofty requirements. Or is this all an act, to cover for the fact you haven't emerged from your mother's basement during daylight for years?

Go away. I don't need you, and I'm tired of wasting energy on you. bother someone who cares.

Sandy is snoring and as Im sleepless I can speak for both of us when I say that the lists are nonsense. They are not based on anything other than comment counts.

I may be tired and I may seem querelous tonight, and I hope that you dont think that anything I say is aimed at you. We love your blog and feel so much that you are sympatico.

Yes, we are chuffed to see our name there in the front list of blogers, though it now seems to have attracted a lot of readers who are very different to the regular readers who's frequent comments put us in the front list. You are one of our welcome regulars and we have always been so pleased to receive your comments.

Many of the comments that we receive now are very different in tone and content to the ones that we used to get and they justify deletion, something that we didnt think that we would do, but we have started to delete several comments on each post where we feel that they are too ignorant or too inhuman and insensitive to leave. So much for the benefits of being on the front list. We know that you must be forced to similarly edit your post's comments.

Unless I am a total idiot, I understand that the list rankings are calculated simply on the basis of the number of comments received over a given period. Naturally it follows that a blogger who posts regularly and invites comments will rise in the list rankings.

Yet frequent posts are not enough to create that result. The post has to be entertaining and must engage the reader in some way. As most of the front list of blogers achieve this, including you, us, Mzhuny, amber, etc, it shouldnt come as a surprise to anyone that those blogers are in the front list.

A lot of criticism has been aimed at blogers in the front list recently accusing them of being comment whores.

We are blatant comment whores. We love to receive comments from readers as it shows that we have engaged them in some way, even if their focus fails to rise above their waists.

In the past few weeks we have created a number of posts that we knew would draw comments. We knew that they would. Simply by running a competition, we encouraged people to participate, comment and have fun.

By ending a post with a series of questions we draw comments also. We dont apologise for that. We are here to have fun. The people who comment on our blogs seem to be similarly motivated. Good for them.

There are also political undertones to some of our posts. These posts draw relatively more comments from people with a wide range of views on the subject that one of us may have posted on. We dont apologise for any of them either.

So far we have only banned one reader from commenting. We banned him because he shows no evidence of possessing either a working brain or a soul. We hope that we wont find that we have to ban other readers but assuredly, the desire to gain comments will not deter us from doing so.

So I say to hell with your critics and to hell with ours

Now Im going to sleep

love ya,
Dee

Hugs, to you two, also.

My understanding is that they calculate the list on the basis of unique comments, i.e. one per person per post. Therefore the more interactive posts where someone comes back over and over for a dialogue don't keep wracking up the numbers.

There are a lot of my posts that don't get many comments, and I expect that. I had fun when I had less attention, and I mostly have fun now. It just pisses me off when people attack me for just being me.

The interaction is what makes this fun. I could just write and post on a website for people to read, and set up a counter for the number of hits. That's a rather lonely way to spend an evening.

You really should watch out with what you say here. The last thing kelli could be called is arrogant. Sure she has her faults and foibles as you say, but she is human and not some DemiGod that some peeps here like to make her, or of any of the other Top Bloggers that were named as well. If there are men out there that are grasping for attention then so be it, after all, this is a site where most people are looking for a sexual partner, and to do so, you HAVE to get the attention of someone now don't you? Otherwise, you will be sitting there jacking off to all the nice pics, while those of us that have the ladies attention, are getting laid by said ladies!

Ignorance is bliss.

Why should she, or anyone for that matter, take the "high road"? Why don't you tell that to the pathetic bitch that got the whole thing started?

No, her blog didn't get shut down for that reason, but that leads me to think that you are probably one of the ones she exposed, which would lead you to come here and attack her. Or perhaps you are the same person she is talking about, just in another wrapper, who knows.

I doubt seriously that she is your darling, and the fact that you have been here since December is enough to say, you don't have a clue what is going on here. Being a close, personal friend of kelli's, I can assure you that she is anything but arrogant.

But, you are entitled to your opinion. Blog on dude.

One is about banning another obsessive, hateful individual who was spamming my blog with extremely long comments (10 on one post) after I politely asked him to stop. I guess anything I do is wrong.

I don't know who you are, or what your agenda is, but I marvel at the hateful obsession with me that has prompted you to spam multiple blogs with variations of this comment.

one does get so bored with list bashing,i've blogged from the begining and have see it all, they come and they go and yep they really piss me off, lately a new breed seems to be about before it was just gra0oan and moan of the lists now they feel they have to name and get personnal and thats just not on,we so called top bloggers get banned for less

the unique way does seem to work as alot of top bloggers are newish bloggers, but by reading and commenting they have got a readership, some of the newbies don't seem to realise you need to blog every where to get noticed unless a top blogger notices them and points folk in there direction.

some how i stay on that list ,even after deleteing over 500 posts and over 10.000 comments it upset the hell out of me as each one is a memory and each one good or bad, some one spent a few minutes reading and enjoying me,if thats bad then fuck em,

Hey wtg Kelli...again you nailed it!! It is not anothers place on here to *tell* what we should write or not. If you don't like it..don't read it. I follow that myself. We had a similar problem in the magazine with people not liking the *top responders* list and the way it was calculated. It went from who answered the most to who had the most votes to now..who knows. roflmao I answered the questions I wanted to honestly and didn't care if I was or was not a top responder. Similar thing happened in the groups. The rush to get your name on the *top group responder* or something was really uh....important.

Bottom line, it seems for some people on here that you *must* have your picture on the top of a list or get that star on your forehead. I could care less. I am here to have fun, enjoy chat with my friends, laugh and have a good day. I don't come here to fight, argue, or find trouble. At those times I see people doing what Kelli pointed out...I think ... wasn't this ADULT [/]friend finder?? not the Children's room??

It's so disappointing that this site can't keep the high school kids out of the blogs, but I guess since they don't even need to steal daddy's credit card to be a standard member ...

Guys like this are so transparent. Highly intelligent but bitter and frustrated because the world hasn't recognized their innate superiority and appointed them king. He doesn't have anything of his own to offer, so he goes around tearing down others.

Three of those posts aren't even Kelli's. Hell, they're not even women. Amazing that with all the trouble it was to cut and paste those links, he just grabbed links at random to inflate the list.

Why is he here? Standard male members don't meet anyone, and he's not here to blog. Eight months with no comments? I doubt it. More like a smoke screen profile built for a particular purpose.

Hey, if I had been reading you regularly when you made the posts about Russia, I would have commented. But I don't think you've been on my watch list for more than a few months. But I do know what you mean. While I rarely write about sex, I write about things I'm passionate about. Hey, I'm kinky. A good political debate really turns me on. I stopped writing about baseball last year, as I enjoy the interaction with comments too and any baseball post I made got zero comments. Yet people use baseball analogies about sex.

I so don't get these jealous, petty attacks on people, simply because they have more readers than others. So what if people like one blog better than another? Don't read it if you don't like it, but don't sit around telling everyone they have no taste because you don't like what they like. If it was up to me, Dean Koontz wouldn't have a career writing. But I don't go around to horror forums and blogs telling his fans they're worthless and idiots for reading him.

I notice someone has deleted his profile. Sad. I was dying to know who he was.

rm_kelli4u2dew replies on 7/21/2006 8:11 am:
Yes, the thing that some people don't get is that you have to develop a readership and credibility with that readership. No one is going to read your blog if it doesn't interest and engage them. I've read some incredible pieces from people who never did anything of that quality again, or who moved off into subject areas that I wasn't interested in.

Like this post very much, there are far too many critics on this site. The worst are the ones that are in clicks in the chat room cos they are sad enough to go in there every single day.

You enter the room looking to hook up with someone, as is the idea of the site. Giving out some info about yourself and what your looking for, hoping someone may reply. Instead you get one of these everydayers as I call them, piping in and speaking for the whole room "No thanx, none of us interested". Then you get one of the other everydayers kissing their arse and saying "Well said girl/guy".

Pisses me off, I come on here to meet women for a bit of company, a laugh and ultimately lots of sex. So I am gonna go about it in the manner I see fit, everyone has their own way of doing things, I will stick to mine without the critisism of the sad everydayers thanx.

When I first started to read the blogs, even before I started one of my own, I will admit I used the list. But from each person off of the list that I read I also used the "people who like this blog also enjoy" list. That way I could see a variety of what is out there in blog land.

I will say that I have a few favorites that I read constantly that are on the list, but I also have some that are not on the list and I read daily.

I am happy if someone reads my blog, and totally excited if they respond to it. I try, sometimes unsucessfully, to reply to each comment made as a way of thanks.

If I find a blog that makes me think and I think I have a comment for I will leave one. But there are days that when I read a certain blog I just do not have anything to add. Does not mean I will stop reading that blog, but I just don't have anything to add.

I enjoy your blog. I would read it irregardless of where it was ranked. Let your critics whine and complain. Maybe if they wrote something worth reading instead of putting others down than they might one day make the list.

I think that's how all of us started. I follow the links to commenters on my blog and others, and then follow links from there. I find some incredible things sometimes written by people who post maybe once a week and have almost no comments.

I also look at where the bloggers I like have commented. Funny thing, the best writers enjoy good writing ...
