Cheerful people tire me out

Do you know anyone who could be considered 'cheerful'?

You know of whom I speak. The person who almost always is up, bubbly, smiling, chattering away as if they didn't need to breath. These people are nice and fun to be around. But only for short periods of time.

At least that's how it is for me. I am a great 'listener', and people like me seem to draw 'chatter boxes' to them. I suppose it's because they don't get interrupted often.

The problem?

They tend to repeat themselves. Often!

I was reading the blog of someone who fits the above description and all I could think ...

"Can't you come up with anything new to say?"

It's one thing if you are a frequent blogger to occasionally repeat yourself. But this lovely person doesn't really blog that often. I know that the blogger has posted on the same topic 3 times within the last month. Not once but twice!

And they are wondering why I haven't been on IM and chatting with them recently. I could be cruel and tell them that I'm tired of listening to them. But I'm just not that mean.

I'll handle the chatter-box the same way I always handle that type of person ... I'll avoid them for a while and when I think I can take it again I'll contact them. The cycle will start all over again. I'm wearing myself out just thinking about it.

I repeat myself, but that is sometimes, no... most of the time I am misunderstood, lol. In general, cheerful people are ok, for I have known some that are capable of articulation. Just as I have known some quite capable intellectuals that had the conversational skills of an iguana.

And of course, there is a difference between cheerful and pleasant. Pleasant people are perfectly fine, but too much happiness can a little annoying. It can be like talking to a human cocker spaniel. Ok, enough of this before this becomes a rant

Take care,
C.

"...had the conversational skills of an iguana."

That is a good analogy. Hope you do not mind if I keep that one on hand and us it from time to time.

My problem is that I am not, in general a 'cheerful or peppy' person. I am happy with my life and am a pleasant person. On the other hand, I am also a rather serious minded person. I don't like to repeat myself, and try to keep in mind what I have said to whom so that I don't inadvertently do so. But when you are communicating via written words, in a format like this one ... I find it to easy to double check and I don't understand why others don't go to the effort.

Dick says that I expect to much from others. Perhaps he's right.
