Replying to foreign posts...

So, when does another language become a barrier?

I speak a little French, and have been known to reply to a French blog or two, but today I replied to a blog that required more than one accent. It made me wonder - how bad does grammar have to be before it is totally incomprehensible?

I have no accents above the Es (either grave or egu), and no granadillas (lol, I mean cedillas).

I wonder if the person concerned will be able to make it out.

I guess time will tell.

At least the omission of an accent doesn't significantly change the actual meaning of a word...

Merci.

Je suis tres desole that you didn't win le foot, but perhaps that is because you lost Thierry Henry and Whatsisname to a red card.

Who knows...

Pity.

Thanks for your words of encouragement, I will certainly keep that in mind, and continue to practise my French.

Please come back and visit some time.

I barely have a grasp of my own language. I wouldn't attempt that, ever.
I believe we all have different gifts. Mine happen to be language and music. I am just lucky that I was able to identify these early on. I think it is a great tragedy that some people are not given the opportunity to try different things in order to see where their skills lie.

Yours appears to be photography. Possibly more - you will know.

Perhaps it was an exposure thing. In South Africa has 11 official languages, and my Mother if a French professor. She instilled in me a love of things French from an early age. Hence, I can speak 4 languages.

Just lucky I guess.
