Men vs Women drivers...

So I hate to admit it, but on the whole, I do believe that men are better drivers than women.

There are several reasons, but the top two have to be because women are too damn cautious, and men at least take the gap.

Case in point:
We are all in a long line, waiting for the traffic light to change, and there are cars trying to get into the line from the right hand side - for those who don't know which side we drive on - that means they have to cross the oncoming traffic. In other words, they have to pay attention to two lanes of traffic - one being my lane to see when there is a gap to get into, and the other is to see when there is a gap to cross into the gap that is left for them.

For women this appears to be an impossible task.

If you leave half a car length for a man, he will understand that you are letting him in because he is watching the cars and the drivers, as well as the oncoming traffic for gaps. At the slightest sign of a gap, he takes it, whether ot not you meant to give it to him. I decided to let a lady in who had been sitting there since I had been 100 meters up the road, so maybe 15 minutes...

I looked at her to let her know I was letting her in, then I left her at least a whole car length on front of me. So when the car in front of me moved, there was PLENTY of space. This is when she only STARTED looking at the oncoming traffic... WTF?

There was oncoming traffic, perhaps 200 meters away, she waits. So I go. So she decided to go, nearly taking out the side of my car...

A man would never do that.

I rest my case.

See my post tomorrow for stupid behaviour at traffic circle or roundabouts (or whatever you call them in your neck of the woods).

Of course, there are always exceptions, but in this case, the generalisaion appears to be true.

It's true. Female drivers scare the hell of me, too. I'd rather give my 12 year old son a loaded gun than give my girlfriend the keys to the car.

I think that is your #3 which means you are in the clear. Traffic circles? Don't get me started on that. How about highway drivers?

Since I recently totaled my truck , ( hey I needed a nap!) while chatting on my cell phone ( I had a ear piece in !) changing lanes I seemed to think that large tree in the distance was my off ramp ( hey I was sleeping what did I know ? ) I won't argue with the women are bad drivers theory , but I would have !!!!

Dear "iwannatellu".

more truth than some want to believe:

men on an average have a better
stereoscopic vision than women ... 惡ause they have been hunters since stone age ... ...

In the netherlands I got another view on driving women and men ... dutch people in general are nice, friendly and kind, no matter of the sex ...

but when this friendly, nice and kind human being steps into a car and closes the door, starting the engine of it愀 car ... it is mutating into a selfish, roaring monster on streets and freeways ... no difference between women and men, no fight of the sexes ... ...

I惴 thinking about buying a new car ... off road speed about 72 Km/h (45 m/h) ... of course, a pretty safe one for me and my passengers ...

... It愀 called Leopard 2 ... a main battle tank ... ...

I am a very aggressive driver. I have been told too often that I drive like a man. I had to teach myself to drive. I started driving on my own with two kids in the car in peak hour traffic. I would slam my foot on the brakes when I saw the car ahead of me's blake lights come on. I had to drive with the flow of the traffic in Johannesburg so I drive very fast!

hmmm, you have obviously taught your son some firearm skills, I assume?

ha ha

I am going to write a post on that too. Keep an eye out...

Sorry to hear that you totalled your truck, hope your insurance comes to the party. Get an ear piece. LOL

Tank! ha ha

My brother says the traffic in Jhb scares him now, he lives in Geroge, and he can't cope. I guess it is different here than in the smaller "towns", although Durbs rush hour must be hectic too I imagine?

Is that a challenge?

I suppose it depends on what being a good driver entails.

If we're talking defensive driving, then I'd say female drivers are probably better and less risky than males.

If we're talking saavy drivers who know how to drive regardless of the situation, then it would be males.

I Agree with that statement, but it is precisely because women are more cautious that they can be annoying. I just think they should try to drive a bit more defensively.

Oh well, what are you gonna do?
